He has got the size to join in right away - spazzbot
Very pleased that we picked Tkachuk or Zadina. Much higher chance of success with a forward.
Tkachuk is a nasty piece of work with talent and incredible drive. A certain positive going forward.

I really liked Zadina, but i've mentioned before that I really like Tkachuck's brother in Calgary, if he Brady lives up to the hype then we'll have a very good player.
So 'll reserve judgement for now. Perhaps even be cautiously optimistic. |

I'm Shocked we didn't take Zadina, But I am sooooooooo excited that we have Tkachuk! he's huge, can score and has a solid all around game. Will bring grit to this team and his family clearly knows what it takes in the NHL |

Zadina was likely a better choice but that is not to say Tkachuk is some slouch. Bob McKenzie had him ranked ahead of Zadina and he seemed to be ranked very high on a consistent basis. We will not know for sure until he hits the ice.
Also, Ottawa lost a bunch of scouts in recent months (don't recall the circumstances), but is it possible that some of these scouts were designated to look at Eastern Europe? Looks like he spent nearly all of his youth/junior career there. |

Could help replace the same toughness and grit we lost since Chris Neil. But how much skill and offensive capability? Zadina seemed like less risk, plus really liked his remarks to the Habs.
"If you pass on me and I'm in Ottawa, I'm gonna fill your net." |

Good decision by Dorion to gain a 2nd rounder? Maybe, depends on who goes #22 - #25. |

I guess he's going to have to fill the Montreal and Ottawa nets now
Edit: Arizona too...forgot about them, not that they really matter. |

Unless it is via buyout I dont see it. The Market for a 37 year old Goalie at 4.7 mill for next 2 seasons, coming off a poor season with the Sens is going to be pretty shallow. I could see something possibly at the TDL but teams may be hesitant with that last year on his contract. |

He's a great player, would have loved him. I watch him play in Halofax all the time.
My big issue with him transitioning from jr to NHL is that he generates a ton of his offense by entering the zone and then cutting across the middle of the ice. Works amazing in jr, but if he tries that in the NHL he'll have a very short career (will get steamrolled and "lindros'd" out of the league) |

I could see a team with "m'eh" goaltending and some cap room try to take a chance......a team like the isles, who many people have said have lots of interest.
Probably only get like a 4th for him, but clears apart and opens up a spot for a young guy |

Yes nice that he fell to the Wings but so far they have done absolutely nothing with the defense by picking Zadina and Veleno in the 1st round.
Wings have the worst defense in the NHL with very little in terms of defense prospects and they have a garbage record of drafting them late 1st round or beyond. This team is going to suck for a good while. |

Very disappointed that we didn`t take K'Andre Miller at #22. Great move by the Rangers to select him. Hoping that Jacob Bernard-Docker works out. Comments I have read on him are fairly positive.
Brady Tkachuk at #3 is very positive. Detroit grabbing Zadina at #6 is a steal. |

I can only see the isles if they are desperate. They are looking for a #1 goalie for long term. Anderson doesnt fit that. I would rather sign Lehner than trade for a 37 year old goalie at a high cap hit. |
