I'm sure vesey and shultz said the same thing. As I said... it's a risk . When and if he signs , then maybe we have something

Benning should be trying to swing veleno or wilde at this point. Could sven or sutter and maybe a 3rd get it done.
- mauryballstein

As players drop maybe swing a deal or 2 for more 2nds?

Docker in the 1st... interesting. I like the chances of us getting a outstanding forward at 37.

What a strange draft.... Obviously these guys have done their homework but some of the selections are big surprises.

That whole Quinton Hughes interviewed badly with the Canucks bit could have been the Canucks management team bit of manipulation of the press to get him to fall to us. Maybe as a way to help convince teams below them that if they just sweetened the pot enough, the 7OA was their's for the taking.

Again, it wasn't someone credible like Bob Mac or Elliot Friedman reporting it, it was by the Kurtenbloggers who don't have the access that even a Ed Willes or (god forbid) Botchford has with the organization. They could have been given a red herring so that they could blow it up on TSN 1040 to stir the pot and keep the fans guessing.

Yup very true. Still a risk I wouldn't have taken given the quality right handed d men that were available. Jimmy must be rock solid sure he will sign, but I'm still gonna be nervous about it until he does

It's more of a risk for players like Vesey and Shultz to go that route. Sure, it worked out for them, but it's not like they made a ton more money (they all have to sign the 3 year ELC which maxes them out with bonuses at 1m). What if they got injured in their last year of college? Or worse yet, had a bad year, I don't think you're going to see it anymore. The fact is, if they didn't expect to make the NHL, or were late draft picks then you could make that argument to be worried. And if that's the case, who cares if our 6th round draft pick decides to stay in college and signs elsewhere? Hughes will do the same thing Boeser did, and play 2 years in college and then sign.

If we manage to somehow get 1OA next year though, that plan probably goes right out the window and Quinn Hughes would sign immediately so that he could play with his younger brother.

I clearly think Chicago made a huge mistake but we won’t know for three years most likely. I’m sure we will be discussing over the years

And if little brother gets drafted by say.... Chicago Quinton now has the ability to wait out the three years and then sign with whatever team his brother is drafted by. Same scenario just reversed

Do you know Hughes grew up in Toronto? And was an exceptional talent his whole life. He is likely done in college. Star players don’t play 4 years of college.

Hasn't happened....so you're saying there is no risk at all? No need to be concerned? Ok you take that route. All I'm saying is it's a risk until he signs
