I'm still getting over the disappointment of my Zadina dream being crushed, especially when I was so sure the Red Wings wanted Hughes. But I'm happy.

I've seen him play, so I know that he handled himself just fine at Worlds, and wasn't being deployed in only an offensive role. And he can skate!

I guess now we're committed to the idea that the NHL remains a 'speed and skill' game for the next decade?

I had Hughes or Boqvist as a Wing.
Zadina fell one short of my guess also.
Still quite satisfied getting offense on D which is our biggest need.

I was thinking this afternoon about the Canucks' history of drafting defensemen - and realizing that's probably why I was still hoping they might land a quality forward.

The tragic loss of Bourdon set us back & the lack of D in past drafts has caught up to us. Thats a work in progress but still we need more. Hoping Rathbone develops.
