And there never has been, ever. And there are multiple articles written on it.

HOW ARE WE BACK TO THIS SILLY ARGUMENT

- sbroads24

Because Ryan O’Reilly broke a record.

Underwhelming, but I don't believe you're offering fair interpretation.

Not a core piece could be a complimentary piece. Of course, he could be wrong. It could very well be a core.

Pick 11 in this draft is still a very good pick and a decent roster player could also be a complimentary player.

I don't read "spare parts" anywhere on there. Spare parts are AHL and 4th line throwins, imo

- TheSabresTaco

I didn’t say “spare” parts

For me, a “part” is
-a player that u can get via FA (ie: “decent roster player”)
-a “b” prospect- they rarely turn out to be more than a depth player (those can be acquired for free as well)

So yeah, I’m being harsh calling pick11 a “part”
Bc you’re right, we would get a good prospect there
But like i said,
those guys are about 50/50 as to whether they make an impact

For me...
a 50/50 shot at an impact guy,
plus a couple depth guys,
is not nearly enough for O’Reilly

I know you’ve seen me say a BUNCH of times that I’m ok trading him for someone who will be a “core” guy for us

2 year, 1 way contract. Has 3 games left of waiver eligibility. Virtually no chance of demotion.

I doubt Botts cares if anyone lifts Bowls

Rasmus Dahlin says he likes the small town feel of Buffalo because it reminds him of his hometown in Sweden.

I think a reasonable trade could be:

O'Reilly, McCabe and the SJ 2019 1st rd pick

for

Pachs, #3 OA

With #3 OA I take Tkachuk, not Zadina

- turbo044

I’m not a Tkachuk guy
I’d rather have Wahlstrom even
Not that i hate Tkachuk...
but he’s not the “sniper” type that we need to ply with Jack
I think he will be a really good, 2way player who scores around 20 per year
But I’d rather go for the guy who has the ability to score 30+

Just my preference though

I am genuinely curious if Eichel is working on his FO ability this summer, especially if he knows ROR will be gone.
- TheSabresTaco

Why would he be?
I heard they “don’t matter”

Most team's fans try to promote no doubt soon to be traded players, not here, we rip them apart. Boom

There's no statistical proof that shows, over the course of a season, that the amount of FOs you win determines the amount of games you win.
- TheSabresTaco

And yet it’s common sense that u actually try to win the faceoff
Weird?

doubt it.
Why wasn't he working on it WITH ROR who is the best and on his teams for the past 3 years.
Missed opportunity.

Nelson is no longer waiver exempt. He's not going down unless he's atrocious in camp.

I agree not a fan either... Zadina or Wahlstrom or what if they went defense again, Hughes?

I added it thinking, "Beau is a Botts guy, Nelson isn't, maybe that's the second option"

I'm of the mind Guhle is a lock for this team. He brings more to the table than a healthy Bogo or a sober Bolo. Pilut can be stashed in the A to start and acclimate. Nelson and Beau are fighting it out for #7 to me.

No one said that faceoffs don't matter. Again, the interpretation is wrong.
- TheSabresTaco

Really?
Can people stop this. Faceoff % is nearly a pointless stat.

95% of faceoffs don't mean a damn thing.
- ImThatGuy

Yeah, I haven't done my normal draft research for the early 1st rd, 'cuz of the lottery result, but, obviously would trust BOTS judgment. I mean, there weren't many who "loved" the Mitts pick last year when it was made and he may end up being the #1 guy from the 2017 draft when all is said and done; certainly top 3
