or.... there's a ass for every seat as car salesman like to say. Someone is dumb enough to overpay everyone at some point, but is it a team Symonds will go to...?

Jimmy Murphy is saying the Bruins are trying to move Krejci and Backes to free up space to make a run at John Tavares

Could you imagine that?

Marchand - Begeron - Pastrnak
DeBrusk - Tavares - Kovalchuk
Heinen - JFK/Studnicka/? - Donato
Schaller - Kuraly - Acciari

A man can dream

They just had a call into Felger and Mazz.

Dump Krejci and Backes(magically). Make a run at Tavares.

that would be very interesting....

Why cant Backes just be a good guy and retire for the sake of his brain?

Apparently there are rumors out there about this as I mentioned above. It isn't going to come easy that is for sure. I don't see a lot of people lining up to take on those contracts without us giving something away.

And trading those two away at the chance to sign Tavares is too much to risk IMO. I was just dreaming on what has been a boring hockey day - was hoping for more

Hi contract was up after this year and they didn't have anything worked out. I read somewhere he is making 4 million a year versus the 1.8 he was making in Washington. Money talks

Do not believe anything MJL has to offer, he is just trying to get rid of Simmonds like most flyer fans. He is a declining player who was once a great player.
- joegreif17

If you actually knew anything about me and what I think , you would know that I don't want the Flyers to trade Simmonds. I want them to re-sign him. Simmonds if he can get healthy will be right back to being one of the top power forwards in the NHL. You completely misread the intent of my post and your knowledge of what I think or want is as poor as your overall knowledge of the game of hockey.

You're just making a fool of yourself with this continued gripe that you have.

yeah, but I had heard they owned a 2 year option for him for similar $$, and being a stanley cup winner, he wanted more. Not the first time i was wrong.

"Don't be surprised to see Philly flip Simmonds one for one with the Habs for Pacioretty".
- dwoo33

That would be a steal for the Flyers, but Hextall is too dumb to move the tire fire Simmonds.

The Schenn trade and the Streit trade were both solid deals.
- MJL

Your in another world man, the Schenn deal will haunt Coma man Hextall for another 8 years, the midget Jack Frost is going to have to be pretty special for this to work out for Hextall. Schenn is a first line center on a good hockey team as is 70 point season will attest to. Too much koolaid for some flyers fans, wake up and smell the coffee. If he resigns Lehtera heads will roll

Why? Why do they need to go get another power forward? Here's how the last bunch of Power Forwards worked out...

Rick Nash - Sucks
David Backes -Done and the Bruins are (frank)ing stuck with him.
Matt Beleskey -Sucks
Milan Lucic - Sucks
Nathan Horton - Broke down. Really liked the Columbus zoo and probably would've really sucked had he stuck around.
Jerome Iginla - Got old and expensive.

Really other than Iginla, this is such an overrated and trash player type. Even Cam Neely. He didn't last nearly as long as he should have. They breakdown quickly, get expensive and become albatrosses. Enough already.

I can assure you that Simmonds will fit in with this group nicely, he is done! Buyers beware and if Hextall had any brains he would move him before resigning him. Slow as molasses in January. Excessive brain cramps and his style has worn him out. He was a great player the past few years but he is toast.

Two first round picks for Schenn was a solid deal.

It's the equivalent of running backs in the NFL. Once they hit 30 (in some cases a few years before) they drop off of a cliff. Sweeney, stay away from power forwards.
