Love Simmonds but I'm not sure what the Bruins could sacrifice to make it work and not have it be just a lateral move?

DeBrusk, McAvoy, Pastrnak, Bergeron and Marchand are no's.

Carlo as a starter maybe?

I dunno. They don't seem like good trading partners right now.

I had a hard time finding someone on the Bruin's roster that didn't make me dry heave. And they don't have a first round pick to offer.

It would have to be Heinen + picks I would think. Not sure this makes sense for either side tho

Glak I think you are really underestimating Simmers value
- bulet13

I'm sorry I know it's cool to overvalue your favorite teams players now a days, but I try my best to look at both sides. What the Flyers want doesn't matter unless it aligns with what other teams will do.

rather just sign kovalchuk as a free agent and not trade anything
- Fountain-San

I'm nervous about Kovalchuk. Not doubting his skill but has it ever worked out for any team in the NHL with him? Ever? He gets pissed or testy and he (frank)s of back to Russia.

That top 6 tho if it did work out.

Heinen, Bjork and JFK are all nice young players if it's a forward they were looking for.

Considering Simmonds is a UFA after this season I'd like to keep them all because the likely addition of multiple picks would be a heavy cost in the long run IMO.

My first ask would be Vaakanainen. Would Boston do that, probably not with a few aging dmen.

Then I ask about 2019 1st round, don't see Boston going 2 years without a first.

Now it is all about what package of players Boston wants to put together.

Okay so you're just gonna ignore the lucic and backes contracts and say no team is gonna give simmer a similar deal?

You do realize those deals were stupid then and now? Does that mean I am saying a Simmonds deal would be stupid, no, but those are the deals that cause others to be very cautious about repeating those mistakes.

Notice it's been awhile since the Flyers have gone out and got a FA, no one wants Weise and MacDonald happening again. At the time they were safe signings.

I don't either. Those kind of deals only happen at the TDL and teams are very confident they have a shot.

Yeah I know those are horrible deals but they happen every year so clearly people don't learn. Kane literally just got 7 x 7

The only way i see a deal working is with the Flyers taking on Backes. Not sure an exact deal but that's the only way I see a Simmonds deal going.

To Philadelphia: Backes(some money retained), Hinien or Danato, 2019 1st rounder.

To Boston: Simmonds

Only way I can see something working because it lets Philadelphia get most value and Boston opens up room by moving Backes.

But not sure Philadelphia wants to take on that deal or player.

The Bruins regretted the Backes deal before the ink was dry.

Much like the Schenn (Lehtera) deal, that 2019 1st is just for taking Backes then the talk about Simmonds begins.

Obviosuly I think any long term deal with simmer is a bad one. I'm saying someone will give it to him tho especially with the cap raising. At the absolute minimum he will get 5 x 6.5

We can agree to disagree. I think it ends up being no more than 25M over 4 years.

And that's where the deals ends, especially for an in-conference team.
