Unfortunately this is exactly the kind of deal that Hextall likes to make. Trade an established player, Simmonds, for picks and a salary dump, Backus. He has done the exact same thing in the past when obtaining Filipula and Lehtera.

The Schenn trade and the Streit trade were both solid deals.

I’ve been a VIP member on the Wayne train for years. Love his game, gets to the dirty areas, and is a monster in front of the net. Would LOVE to see him in the spoked B.

Having said that, I’m not sure there is a deal to be made at this point. A couple years ago I would’ve said it could work, but with the youngsters digging their heels in, I think you have to ride it out with the young guns.
