I would want the Rangers to be in on Duchene.
- JRR1285

I wouldn't want to trade for him

definitely have a chat with him if he gets to UFA

I guess I would perk up, but I have a hard time believing anyone would waive their NTC to go to Ottawa right now, and they both have them

No way. Duchene is a dog. He makes Nash look like Gordie Howe.

It's the unfortunate reality of what you need to give when you are either signing a player as a UFA or when you are signing your own who is going to become a UFA. The problem is that all teams are willing to give them, so if you want to be competitive for a player in the open market, you have to give them as well. Otherwise, you would miss out on a lot of players.

Hagelin was incredible the 2nd half 2015-16 after Penguins acquired him from Anaheim and that playoff run

been pretty mediocre otherwise and not worth anywhere close to 4 mil a year

I know. It's just so frustrating because I can't remember too many Rangers players that don't make their contracts look like dog poop in the last 20 years. Maybe Gaborik since he was traded and got a great return while he was still good.
Nylander was great, Zuccarello is great. That's about it that I can think of.

Here are the bad ones that stick out to me. Unsure if they all had NMC/NTC but anyway:

Richards - Atrocious after a couple years
Staal - Terrible
Girardi - Not great, also not terrible but he was a product of wear and tear
Smith - Jury still out but not looking good
Stepan - Not awful and was moved for a decent return
Gomez - Turned into McDonagh somehow but still bad
Holik - So bad

I went back and looked at the stats since I guess I was stuck on his lack of production in one year of the playoffs. That was 2012-2013 with one point. His following regular season was not great.

Either way if you compare his stats to previous years where he was over a PPG, the Rangers never really saw the player we were all hoping they signed. I was a huge Richards fan, I even bought his Jersey right after he signed but holy crap what a disappointment.
