Fall into the top ten... exactly. He was outside this season, moved into for a few months and is trending out at the moment. But realistically, he's not a permanent top 10 ranking in my opinion. I really think he goes after we pick at the very highest. - boonerbuck
I think Edmonton at 10 will be the lowest he falls. |

You guys have a lot of good wingers, even elite ones. You have nothing at center right now. Kotkeniemi looks like he could be a 1c. Trading down is prefered for him, but some rumors are out that he won't get passed 6oa as Detroit seems to be high on him. I think you guys pull a CBJ and just take your guy early and don't risk anything. people thought it was crazy to pass up JP at 3. - Retinalz
They need to try to win now. Kotkaniemi is not NHL ready at all, way too slow and terrible balance (gets pushed off the puck in a laeague where they barely bodycheck). Lots of skill, but for a team trying to win now it doesn't make sense. Then again, MB doesn't seem to know what the hell he is doing so.. |

Montreal is perfectly poised to rebuild, and they have been given the green light to do so. They have assets that can be sold for futures, and they have strong vets that can help bring up the next core. Who cares about competing with Price and Weber? Rebuild and compete again in 3-4years. |

I mean I thought competing with weber and Price was exactly their mindset. I think they are going for JT, Thronton, Stasny and ROR. Trying to win now. I haven't seen anything about them saying they are rebuilding ever. Either way, I'm very happy MB, Chia and Dorion are so incompetent. They make Jim look like Scotty Bowman. |

He has the frame to add weight, especially lower body strength. If anything, that leaves more untapped potential since no one questions his skill or hockey sense(2 things you can’t teach).
Taking him over Zadina is not a move I’d defend though. Even if Danault is your 1LC. |

Pacioretty isn’t gonna be there much longer, they need future goal scoring from any position they can get it from. Gallagher is the only other legit scorer they currently have. |

Can't pass on Zadina at 7 no way. To me, may as well trade down if they are going to take a forward like Kotkaniemi. Small chance he'll be there 4-8 spots later but I put him in the class of Veleno and Hayton. I think Veleno might break out big time in his draft +1 and change his modest projection. He has high reward and safe lables all bundled up in one for the people who speak that language as well.

I just don’t see any natural offensive instincts in his game. He relies so much on his speed.
Good prospect but I don’t even have him in my top 15 |

His foot speed and agility are not up to snuff either. He's got as much to improve as any other guy outside of the top 10, which is why he's not in the top 10 of most draft boards. Picking him over Hughes, boqvist, Tkachuk or Zadina is a mistake IMO. He had a big tourney in April for sure, I get the hype and yes the skill is there to the point where some scouts have him top5. I get that, not someone I would pick given some of the talent at the top of this draft. |

He's a much better passer than either Hayton or Kotkaniemi. Not a big shot, I'll give you that. Works the boards really well, forechecks, backchecks and has exceellent vision.

The guy picks out Kotkaniemi in the end, but all three are right there. IMO Veleno is the best center in this draft followed by Kupari (ya I said it, Kotkaniemi is the second best finnish center in this draft MANVAn write it down hahah) |

Drouin is legit if they put him back to wing. The kid is not a center in this league. |

Yeah, but he’s a playmaker more than a scorer
Zadina is as good of a playmaker as Kotkaniemi while being a way better scorer |

We’re not drafting finished products here, people... and some attributes at this stage are WAY more important than others. |

He's got to be the fastest kid in this year's draft though. That combined with his defensive acuam makes him safe, if he played with a dynamic winger he could be as good if not better then horvat. |
