Bouchard for sure. They may have made a mistake with Juolevi and they can’t afford to draft a guy that may never play in the league. I think his floor is no career and that’s terrifying for a top 10 pick. Bouchard has to get quicker but with his shot and offensive dominance in the OHL he is going to be a player. The strides he makes in his skating will determine if he is a second pairing or first pairing dman. Not my favourite pick but we could do worse - CanuckDon
Sweet, I knew that you'd take Cam Barker over Karlsson... |

Barker is a real bad comparable. Played on a stacked team with worse production. He is also a pylon. They are the same size I guess? What do you think the chances are that Boqvist “hits” and hits your humorous Karlsson projection? |

If bouchard was faster on his edges he'd be homerun. I call him Barker because he, like bouchard, is slow to accelerate, has an awkward stride and doesn't maneuver very quickly. He does have better top speed then Cam but that won't stop forwards from getting two to three steps on him in the nhl. He's a better passer then Cam but not as good at defending (in junior). Both will be high picks.
I think bouchard has the same chance of being a star as boqvist, with boqvist having a better career (if both picks hit. )
I would go with between 1 to 100 percent chance that boqvist meets Karlsson's performance.
50 percent chance he never plays 200games in the nhl.
30 percent chance he plays 4 to 5 hundred games.
Or....
17.5percent number one defensemen with a bullet
25 percent top 2
40percent top 4
50percent top 6
I might be 5 percent off but honestly think it's worth it, even if it's a 15 percent lottery ticket for a Karlsson vs a 70 percent of a top 6(45 percent top 4, 15percent top 3[tweener] 5percent chance top 2,
I like Dobson and think he's likely to become a top 4 but I want another home run his year. |

I've always had labs so we went with what we know, he's two next month and starting to calm down but he's still a handful for us! |

No picks acquired yet? Leafs are gonna give up the 25th+ for Tanev - LeftCoaster
#7 is in play.
Tanev and #7 for Martin, Leivo, Carrick and #25.
Leafs then flip Tanev and Lupul for the rights to Tavares.
Tavares then re-signs back in New York.
Everyone is pretty happy with the outcome. |

Dude just bring back Polak . That D was fricken awesome
I love seeing the Leafs exit in round one , go after every free agent there is and come up empty handed .

They were prolific in FA last year, to the tune of 3 guys, Marleau, Moore and Hainsey (spose 4 if you include Polak).
They definitely need to upgrade that back end, you're right. a random 40 games of Tanev probably doesn't help it that much. He'll be about as useful as Horton and Lupul were this past season.
Luckily for the Leafs they have time on their hands to sort that out. Not sure Polak is Dubas' kind of dman though, so he might be a FA that you guys look at along with teh Bozek.
I agree, it's good seeing the Leafs back in the playoffs now against all odds. They managed to survive the predicted sophomore slumps, injury crisis and poor goaltending to make it.
The future is finally bright for both our teams.

Not even Jake Virtanen at #6 or OJ at #5?.
I think they're the only mistakes Benning has made since taking over, myself.
Other than that, he's done a good job to be fair. They've managed to remain competitive while rebuilding. A feat not to be taken lightly. (Imo) |
