That losing mentality you mentioned won't be easy to shake. Picking top 3 again proves there's still an enormous monkey on the organisations back. The new GM is a start, but having 99% of the players or close to it playing in this molasses it's not going away real soon.

I'd be trading away the current crop & hopefully getting equal talent players back - maybe an older experienced player or 2 is needed. Hopefully Jack won't be stuck in loser mode & the organisations can start winning.

Trouble is who are players that can lift the organisation out of this loser tanking mode it's played itself into? If ROR is thinking what you reported he should be on the fasttrack out of Buffalo in my opinion.

1 player I can think of (& you will laugh your arses off), is Toews. Hes Not going to score too much, but maybe ((frank)ing yuuuge maybe), he 'could' bring a change of attitude into the room. Playing with a talented younger roster may give him a lift, but I say 'could' & 'may'. All care no responsibility taken in any outcome from this comment.

Ok stop (frank)ing laughing now!

Chicago - O'Reilly, Rights to Lehner ($7,500,000 total cap hit),
Buffalo - 8th pick in this years draft, 3 round pick (Toronto's pick), Anisimov, Forsberg, Hossa contract, and a "b" level prospect, ($10,575,000 total cap hit),

- -Doh-

Hossa's contract doesn't carry a cap hit once the season starts

I would 100% do this from a Sabres point of view

A top 10 pick, a goalie, and a 3rd line center

That's basically a great deal for Chicago

If Toews wasn't getting paid $10 million then I would be for it

If Chicago eats 40% of his cap hit then we will talk

Is the hope that Middlestadt takes the place as the second line center down the line? I was impressed by his play and I think he's going to be a very good player for you.

I don't see why Chicago would do that

To Montreal - O'Reilly, 2019 2nd
To Buffalo - Jonathan Drouin, Max Pacioretty and a 2018 second rounder

To NY Rangers - O'Reilly
To Buffalo - Chris Kreider, Libor Hajek and a 2018 first rounder (TBL)

To NY Islanders - O'Reilly, 2019 2nd
To Buffalo - 2018 12th-overall, David Quennville, Linus Soderstrom

Seems like an awful lot for a guy that struggles to hit 60 points and carries a 7.5 million dollar cap hit. I understand he wins face-offs but he is too slow for todays game especially in the east.

Sure!
How about:
To Buffalo: Mathews, 2018 1st, Gardiner
To Toronto:2018 1st, O'Reilly

Doubt either team would do it, but would be fun

There would have to be more to it but that's a player i think could get you guys moving in the right direction.

Maybe a monster deal where Toews & Crawford are traded to you for ROR + something smaller. Cap hit would need to be balanced & Crawford would have to be passed fit, but as I said, I think Toews in some way could/should be considered.

You need to fix the losers mentality first & foremost. Vegas threw a team together & got to the final.
