In reality, the Offer Sheet value is determined by taking the total value (salary, and signing/reporting bonuses), and dividing it by either the number of seasons the offer is for or five - whichever is lower. This means that the offer sheet value is the same as the AAV if the offer is for five years or less, but for six and seven year offer sheets the offer sheet value will be significantly higher than the actual AAV. The value increases each year, based on the growth in the league's average salary.

Happy to educate you fellas this morning

It would just be a lot easier to say whatever the AAV is, is what you get compensation for.

So if Trouba got offered a 5 year 30 mill contract the compensation would be whatever a 6 mill a year contract is.

The AAV for an offer sheet, which determines the compensation required, is derived by dividing the total contract value amount by the lesser of:
number of years offered, or five (5) years.

in general, an offer sheet is the last thing I expect the Rangers to do

they aren't risking losing their first rounder next year which very possibly is a lottery pick again

this rule is mainly why there's so few offer sheets...

Don't even remember that one.

I'm guessing the Weber one got so much play was because the amount, and the Pred's cap situation.

Wasn't there some weird thing about that that if the Avs actually didn't match, then O'Reilly would have been a free agent or something like that? I remember the Flames really, really screwing up something on that big time.

Again, you are making statements like they are facts. All rumors that any fan can speculate on given the circumstances. Trouba held out for over 22 games 2 seasons ago. That’s a 1/4 of the season. Part of the reason was he was basically the 3rd pair right D behind Buff and Myers. Rumors started then, and ramped up in offseason. Obviously they where deep on right side and common sense dictated that they would want a left dman. They signed Kulikov. They signed Trouba and now we’re back to him being rfa again.
- junaka3

See articles at some point over the past few days in the "Winnipeg Free Press", and on other media sites there about Trouba, and his history of "wanting to stay, and then later, maybe not so". (Why do you think it seems he is always a free agent???) Be sure to especially concentrate on his hockey playing facts, and specifically the ones which you don't believe that I posted.

The only thing that triggers me is people who don't use blinkers. When I'm governor thats a death penalty offense.

That is definitely going to happen when I'm Emperor. Also, turn signals will be changed to yellow since sometimes it's hard to see the red signal in bright sun.

Can we get back to the idea of trading Skjei? Imagine a left side of Staal, Smith and O'Gara? Makes me laugh just thinking about it. I think I need to see it.

Gilmour would be ahead of O'Gara on the depth chart right now, no?
