Bob McKenzie on TSN690 on Erik Karlsson trade rumours: “I think Vegas is well willing to take on the Bobby Ryan contract.”

What could they give them. They have one year of prospects and no top picks this year

I was letting this blog stay up for a bit. The next three picks - Philly, LA and San Jose to be posted shortly. My plan is to post two more this evening.

Needs to be finished before the actually draft starts. People better start sending in their picks quickly.

He’s only 24 and I agree I don’t think he wants to commit long term, but if not his next contract he’ll be UFA. Jets had a good year, but they have a bunch of guys to sign this year, including their #1 goalie. 3 of their top 5 scorers are In last year of their contracts. Rangers should consider getting him to sign an offer sheet. Will be hard for Jets to match and will only cost us a 1sr,2nd, and 3rd... considering all the picks we have and he’s young, would Definately be worth it
- junaka3

Offer sheets are total dollar value divided by 5, Or the length of the deal, whatever is shorter!!! So chances are you’d be looking at a deal that would cost you 4 first round picks. If it was less, Jets would say thank you for doing our job and match.

Second paragraph of the upcoming blog, one step ahead of you guys:
“To help us catch up after posting the blog on Larry Brooks' column, below are Philly's, Los Angeles' and San Jose's picks. That puts us at 21 picks, leaving 10 remaining. My plan is to finish by Thursday morning, allowing almost all day Thursday for rumors etc. leading into the draft Friday. I hope to post picks 22-23 Monday evening, 24-26 on Tuesday, 27-29 on Wednesday and 30-31 on Thursday am.”

In reality, the Offer Sheet value is determined by taking the total value (salary, and signing/reporting bonuses), and dividing it by either the number of seasons the offer is for or five - whichever is lower. This means that the offer sheet value is the same as the AAV if the offer is for five years or less, but for six and seven year offer sheets the offer sheet value will be significantly higher than the actual AAV. The value increases each year, based on the growth in the league's average salary.

Happy to educate you fellas this morning
