Foligno is 30

I'd rather have Patches if that's the route they want to go

Both are too old for a ROR deal unless the prospect coming back is a stud

- Stripes77[/img]

I don't think Patches brings the toughness that Foligno does, plus Foligno is cost controlled for 3 more years at 5.5

Looking at other potential ROR trade partners, CBJ isn't super deep down the middle. Wennberg really came back to earth. I'm guessing they would never move Dubois, but what about bringing Nick Foligno back to Buffalo?

I know he's their captain, but the team underperformed this year.

Dude Foligno is going to be 31 ...goal is young

He's only signed til he's 34 at $5.5, plus like I said, that's a huge influx of leadership and a good player for Eichel to play with. We'd be getting a prospect too.

So instead of Paying Patches for 7 years until he's 37, you get a guy still in the late stages of his prime on a relatively team-friendly deal at a position of need

We don't need a guy who only scored 30 1 time and then 20 1 other time.

They need an offensive talent to play with Eichel.

Throw out his one 73 point season 4 years ago and Foligno is a 40 point player

I want Eichel to play with someone who can score goals.

Neither are players I would target but I would take Patches over Foligno all day if I had to choose between the two of them

Chayka on Galchenyuk: “He’s has success playing the center position. ... I don’t think we’d make this trade if we didn’t think he had the ability to play center.”

Have fun

- TheSabresTaco

Pretty sure he scored 30 goals the year MTL actually let him play Center
He’s just gotta figure out the defensive zone aspect of it

I'm spitballing because I'm getting nervous about this potential ROR move. I just don't like the Pacioretty or Skinner ideas

OK, I get what you mean, we all do.

But you need some veteran leadership, too. You just can't put 18 kids out onto the ice and say, "HERE YA GO! NOW GO WIN!"

and if you say we already have Pommer, Bogo, etc as leaders, I'm coming out to California myself...AND I'M BRINGING HELL WITH ME!

I understand what you're doing but Foligno is not a guy they need to be thinking about bringing in (at least not in a ROR deal).

I would take Patches or Skinner over Foligno.

I also don't have ROR to be the guy moved in those deals unless there is a lot more coming Buffalo's way.

agreed

I brought this up the other day

Mccabe and a few smaller pieces could easily land one of these guys

I agree! This is my main objection with Patches/Foligno. If ROR is a big asset, I want him used on younger, cheaper options rather than replacing him with a more expensive, older version of himself.

Correct. We're not trading him for crap. If the deal isn't right, he stays.

I’d expect another big move soon from Montreal and getting that top Center makes sense. No rumored names are sure things just yetIB Axelrod 💵 added,

Does the galenychuk trade open up a spot for ROR or are they hoping for JT?

My favorite ideas are still Hamilton and Schwartz.

I wonder if both the Coyotes and Canadiens inquired about ROR and found the price too high for their blood and moved on.

Max Domi has 36 goals in his NHL career in 3 seasons

Sam Reinhart has 65 in his 3 seasons

Goal scorers get more money plain and simple

$4 million-$4.25 million for 2 or 3 year bridge deal

- Stripes77

Agreed. Fair to both sides.

I would have thought Galchenyuk would have been a part of a ROR trade. I know many are saying that's not the case.

I still like ROR for Drouin. Imagine that speed and skill set on Jack's left side for the next 10 years. Plus the right age and $2 million per year lower. #3 overall would be better but i just can't see Bergevin being that stupid.

No matter what else happens, we are getting a franchise defenseman
