Honestly, it seems pretty fair as a straight hockey trade
- jcragcrumple

I'd add to get that deal done.

I'd honestly want STL to add something.

ROR is the epitome of what they build their game around being a possession two way FO winning machine. He won 60% last year and led the NHL.

Maybe not a huge name like Barbashev or Fabbri but maybe Vannelli?

Comparable point production, and Schwartz plays primarily wing, which is a less valuable position, I don't think you'd have to

EDM fan trading for Risto for a 2nd, 3rd, and Nurse.

Also Bobby Ryan for Lucic/2nd.

Getting Nino and Ennis for Slep, Strome, and Russell too.

I don't think any would be agreed to.

Just interesting.

Does anyone think S. Bennett could be had on the cheap? I would like him as a depth forward. Say they did move ROR for Schwartz.

Bennett for 32 + a prospect maybe (Bailey)?

Schwartz-Eichel-Okposo
Bennett-Mitts-Reinhart
Wilson-Erod-Baptiste
Girgs-Oregan-Pommer

Not bad. I would prefer Domi to Bennett, but I assume Bennett would be cheaper, and he still adds some punch

Both Bennett and Domi are surprising vanilla in the goal column. Depth guys like you have here. Domi has a lot more assists.

Saad, 2018 2nd, and 2018 3rd rounder for ROR?? via capfriendly

That's not a terrible proposal. Saad had a pretty big down year but otherwise is very comparable points to ROR but Saad had that big 31 goal year. Could be a nice physical element coming back if we lose ROR. Big contract but not as big as ROR.

Ehh.. idk. Draft picks don't hurt either. I think we could do better.

After watching Domi play in Buffalo live, I was really, really impressed. I know his stats are pedestrian, but I think he could really flourish in the right scenario.

Bennett is interesting to me as a former #3 pick. A definite buy-low pickup

Okay so then he’s basically not going anywhere.

Yep. Risto and ROR ain't going nowhere unless Botts wins the trade.

And by that I mean extreme massive overpayment for said players.

Get a guy whose team has basically given up on and hope he turns into Briere. Sabres need to find another Briere.

I do. I'd take the deal without blinking, a sign that it's not quite fair. Even if you think the players are equal, the contracts matter.

True. But center is more valuable which could offset that contract. Plus RORs contract now goes to the cheaper end of like 5/6M every year in actual salary.

The cap hit doesn't change and that's an issue. So is the fact that it's lock-out proof and buyout-proof. Really don't get what GMTM was thinking....

Everyone in the organization knows about his partying he's a white nose thanks to Kane before he becme a role model citizen
- gerbe75pts

That's redundant. You're saying the same thing 2 different ways. Role model and model citizen work on their own.

Yup.
However, my suggestions isn't doing the same thing...
1) Dahlin was't here last year
2) Erod a) didn't start the season here as he was injured, and b) he played a small handful of games with Jack, so this is different
3) Mitts was here for 5 games out of 82...doesnt sound like the same to me either
4) Sam and ROR played GREAT together for the last 1/4 to 1/3 of the season together ... that combo is very, very solid and helps them...it wasn’t a reason for their failure as a team...so, yup I want that the same only for 50 more games a year.
5) to a lesser extent, keeping Wilson out of the top 6 is different...he played a fair amount with ROR and Jack. While I like what Wilson brings..I like it more in a bottom 6 role not top 6
6) Okposso was still recovering from a dreadful injury for 1/2 the season...he played well before getting concussed again...then picked his game up again once he recovered from that latest concussion. Stating that he is revitalized meaning at the top of his conditioning and capabjties is certainly different
7) not having chumps in goal should help as well. It is nearly certain both Lehner and Johnson are both gone and replaced. Again, different.

Those are the major points but other aspects could creep in, like another 1 2 or 3 players up their contributions (McCabe not injured, Bogo not injured, Bailey/Baptiste/another prospect steps forward to claim a spot and helps)...again different.

Throw in dumping Girgs and Larson..one of which, hopefully both are gone.

A fair amount of change there.
Just because ROR, Reinhart and Risto aren’t traded does mean it is the same.
The narrative of doing the same is an object failure...only those with a burning desire to trade everyone except Jack and Mitts clings to it.

Great post
And u didn’t even mention that our defense will be MUCH better
Not just in our own end,
but getting the puck up the ice to the forwards as well

Our improved defense (greatly improved imo) is gonna help us be a better team in all 3 zones

And will help our overall scoring quite a bit

Adding Dahlin, Guhle & Nelson full time is huge for us

Yes it is
Even if u think Saad will bounce back from his pretty bad 18g 17a 35pts (while playing with Toews) season...
he still doesn’t have any much value right now

Imo, they’d have to give us Saad & pick8

Then we’d have to hope Wahlstrom is there for us (dynamic scoring winger)
Even if he’s not though,
we could just go with a defenseman there
Or even trade down with NyI potentially

This trade doesn't really make sense from a Buffalo stand point...we massively downgrade at 1RD to get a 2LD (he'll play behind Dahlin) and two prospects who may never play in the NHL..

No, it's not at all

You were the last place team in the league, haven't been out of the bottom 10 in like 5 years.

Colorado traded Duchene. They were dead last.

You have to make major changes.

Nobody on here is saying you need to trade all 3, but something major has to happen with this core.

Moving Lehner Scandella or Bogo isn't major (it would be a bigger type move but it isn't major)

One of ROR Risto or Reinhart have to go this offseason.

Out of the 3 of them, I would prefer to keep Reinhart the most. Risto second and my favorite to get moved is still ROR.

- Stripes77

They also traded Duchene in season, they were 8-6-0 when they traded him and after the next 10 games they were 12-11-2. They actually got worse before they got better. It took them almost 7 weeks before they finally started doing something.

Duchene had to go for numerous issues. It wasn't because he wasn't helping the team.

If they identify ROR as a guy who is holding the team back, not just because some bumholes on the internet take a few made up stats and scream bloody murder. And they trade him for someone that they believe CAN make the team better now, not "maybe in 2, 3 years", now. I'm all for it. That goes for everyone on the team.
