All of you guys throw out ROR to Carolina and MTL because McKenzie mentioned them but McKenzie also mentioned that the Canucks have interest in him as well.

Surprised there are not more trade scenarios there.

I'd be all in for landing goalies Markstrom or Demko.

Really good prospects in Lind, Gaudette, Pettersson.

Virtenan or Sven could be 2nd or 3rd line guys.


I didn't realize that Reinhart had about the same season as Boeser and better than Horvat though.

I think the sabres would need to be in a better position organizationally...we know where they're real thin on the roster and the prospect pool is fairly thin as well...

when you're offersheeting a player not only are you giving up picks to fill one roster spot, you're also giving up some future flexibility as gm's may not want to deal with you because of it...

not to say it shouldn't be done, but shouldn't that be construed a short-cut?

Yeah, that's definitely a concern. I brought this idea up last year as it related to AA in Detroit, and if the offer sheet is in the realm of a second-round pick (roughly 1-3.5m), the better play is to say to the other GM, "i want to avoid the offer sheet here, what if we threw in a prospect, too?"

So instead of a second, offer Bailey and a second. Or ya know, not that exact offer, but just sweeten it. That way there's no hard feelings. And then if the GM won't play ball - which, i mean it kind of is legal extortion - then you drop the OS bomb

Kevin Sylvester posted a little write up about how ROR probably wants to be traded for the reasons we've been discussing, like that he wants (needs) to be THE guy. I think more and more the guy has actually asked to be traded.

Just like in Colorado, ROR wants to be the guy in Buffalo. It's Eichel's team and the world knows it. if you can believe all the 2nd hand info that ROR and Eichel don't see eye to eye because OR is butthurt, then you can bet that Botts is not only trying to trade him for "a treasure trove of assets", I would be willing to bet that he himself has asked to be traded. There's nothing out there that doesn't tell me he's a selfish wiener. As I've been saying for eons.

You don't need to take it as factual. Connect the dots. Read all the media out there. There's a lot of smoke from the years he's been in the NHL. Some of it might be crap, but I bet the basic idea is truthful. He's done nothing, through interviews, through media questions, through off and on ice actions, that tells me he's not a me-first player.

The media or WGR or whatever just want clicks and listeners... so they are going to talk in hypothetical as if it's facts. ROR is the hot topic people want to get updates on. People know he wanted out of COL so they are digging it up again. Until there is actually something from one of the main NHL Analysts or from his mouth himself...
