Yes I know. Whalstrom is technically a dirty, red white and blue bleeding, hot dog weilding, good ole 'Merican!

So he's Phil Kessel?

I think if his name was simply "Joe Walters" he wouldn't be talked about being in the top-10 or maybe even the top-15.

His draft bio would read "Average scorer at the collegiate level. NHL-frame and likely has plus physical traits. Can get under opponents skin. Middle-6 NHL forward with ability to agitate opposing players is a ceiling he is likely to reach"

I get the impression he’s a Tom Wilson clone. Which I’d be happy with because he’s the biggest dooshbag on the planet, behind only Mike Franseca. And they need a doosh, and even more dooshes after him. Trading up for him is proabay a lil crazy, but at 9 you take him and run imo.

Believe me, I am funneling all my energy into the hope that I am wrong and David Quinn has a raging stiffy for Tkachuk and apparent full-control over the Rangers draft.

I also think that the Islanders will be picking only once in the first round.

You think they are going to package those bad boys to move up for Zadina or Svenchinikov?

No, Staple seems to feel pretty strongly that Lou is going to move one of the picks for defense/goaltending help, if not both of them (in separate deals).

If I was a GM in the top 3, I wouldn't trade out of those picks.

What is your gut on where Tavares ends up? Or is your booze soaked knowledge only good for draft prospects?

Interesting. Or they could just sit there and maybe draft both Ty Smith and Bode Wilde (if things fall right).

I think it will be an interesting draft, no doubt, for the Islanders.

Honestly, if you have me a 11 and 12 for 3, it wouldn't be an easy decision for me. I see value at those draft positions.

Significantly more confident that he stays on the Island now that Lou is here. If not, I have no clue. Seems like the Sharks took themselves out of the running by signing Kane to that awful deal.

St. Louis/Vegas I guess would be my front-runners if he walked, but I still ultimately think he never leaves the Islanders.

If they were to keep both picks, which certainly isn't out of the question, they'd have to use one on a forward. Too many of their talent forward prospects graduated to the NHL/AHL and they're going to need to replenish that area.

I think McPhee is going to run them into the ground. He traded a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (albeit in three different years) for (frank)ing Tatar, who's been largely disappointing.

I readily admit there's a large chance I'm way off-base on this one, but it just feels like an inevitability.

He was a name mentioned, but the Islanders certainly wouldn't be trading a 1st for him.

I saw Schneiders name, that would be an expensive trade

Yeah and I have a hard time believing either side really wants to do it with a division rival. Isles aren't handing over a fortune to the Devils for a 32yo goalie who's had two injury-filled bad seasons in a row and has 4 more years with a $6M cap hit.

That can't happen. Shero is gonna want a 1st +. LL can't trade for a goalie that is gonna be 33 in March.

I really think he’s was part of the reason why they hired him and they’ll make every attempt to draft him now.
- Slimtj100

My opinion is that if Gorton based his decision for hiring the coach even partly on his knowledge of a single draft eligible player, he should be relieved of his duties this hour.

You're right. You would have to be some kind of terrible GM to make a deal like that.

...I'd say its 50/50!!

edit: I can just see Lou wrestling with Snow trying to get the phone out of his hands!!!
