Only thing done to that part since 1998 has been a coat of paint.
New owner has been asking to pour money into the facilities to get them upgraded, but because the arena is joint owned by the Hurricanes/NC State University/Raleigh/County, there's this poopty political committee you have to deal with called the "Centennial Authority" that approves renovations. - BINGO!

Mother(frank)er offered to pay for a brand new jumbotron himself and the Centennial Authority said "Sorry, there's not enough time to get that done this year with the approval process."
Wouldn't shock me if he decides to build a new arena in the future.
When he needed a head office for his investment company, he built a 30+ story office tower in downtown Dallas. Gave his company the top floor and rents out the rest. |

Why in in the world John Carlson go to Ottawa for any reason? - tomburton99
There was talk last week in Canada that Ottawa would be a top contender to sign the potential free agent in John Carlson, if they were to part ways with Erik Karlsson, who during this past season said he wanted to be the highest paid player in the NHL. Erik may be leaning now to be a tiny bit under that figure.
So are you paying Erik very close to, or more than either a Jonathan Toews, or whoever will be earning more annually in salary in the 2018/19 season if you were Ottawa's GM in Dorion? Carlson will command less than those numbers, and is also much better defensively than Erik Karlsson. So will they or Edmonton be willing to out bid the remainder of the league for him with their desperation on their back lines? |

No John Carlson is not going to Ottawa. That team is rebuilding and is more than likely not gonig to have it's top 10 pick in next year's draft. John Carlson isn't going to leave an ECF team to go to a team that might finish last in the east and the entire league. |
