Too bad the Flyers are a division rival, because they own picks 14 and 19 and would have been a prime candidate to move back and grab some extra 1st round picks.

Flyers are in good shape

they've done some smart things lately

I assume most people won't be able to read the article, but The Athletic's two prospect/draft guys, Pronman and Scott Wheeler, had a "debate" on three prospects that each of them had ranked very differently (Kotaniemi, Bouchard, Farabee) and this little blurb was at the end of one of the sections:

https://theathletic.com/3...-their-prospect-rankings/

Wheeler: It’s always hard to gauge because team lists vary so much, but I think the Blackhawks at No. 8 or the Oilers at No. 10 are probably his most likely landing spots, just because it sounds like the Canucks and the Rangers are going to take a defenseman at No. 7 and No. 9.

(He was talking about Wahlstrom, at that point in time)

not saying the players in NYR pipeline are as good but I think they are trying to model the Nashville system and build from the blueline up

And they're only going to get better. Their core is aging but they have a whole new wave of talent coming over the next few years. If Hart turns out to be a solid goaltender, they're going to be a force in the league for quite awhile and I could see them winning a Cup in the next 10 years or so.

Tom Wilson in the playoffs 20 Games - 14 points (5G, 9A)

What do we have to give up for him as a RFA? The TB or BOS #1 ? (26th or 28th pick?)

SOLD!!!

- MiloslavHorava

Wilson's not going anywhere, they love him in Washington. Going from (probable) Cup winner to a rebuilding team?

God damn Flyers are gonna be a pain in the ass soon. They have Frost, Hart and Rubstov all on the way. Not to mentioin the young core of Patrick, Sanheim, Konecny and Provorov.

Extremely good in the WJC's against Sweden. Made every save look easy. Has a little bit of Price and Holtby in him.

It's not a bad strategy, but it's one that's kinda predicated on having strong goaltending. Obviously Hank's career is nearing the end, so that's putting a lot of eggs in the Shestyorkin basket.

My own personal opinion, that I'm sure several of you will viciously attack me for, is that Rangers are painfully weak down the middle. Plenty of time to address that need, but it does need to be addressed at some point. Preds neglected it for a long time and weren't truly contenders until they scooped up Johansen.

He's 25. He and Couturier always get me on their age because it seems like they've been around forever.

I'd still consider him part of that core, but I definitely didn't realize he was 25 already. Couturier I knew was around that age. He does feel like he's been around forever, but he's also been an NHL'er since the year he was drafted.

Oh I agree for sure with that

if they can add a Seguin next summer to slot infront of Zib that could change a lot, not to mention how Chytil pans out. could look good in 2 years

Yeah no doubt, but goaltenders are such an unbelievable crapshoot that he's as likely to be terrible as he is to be a superstar. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him bust or win a Vezina at some point.

Oh he's part of the core for sure. Imgaine of the Flyers didn't go full "Mcilrath" with Morin 2013?

I think Chytil is a player for sure, but I see him as a good 2C. An important cog for sure, but not a star-type player. Also, his concussions have to be a concern for now, until he can play a few seasons without one.

Yeah, there was nobody drafted after him that really leaps off the page to me...but they would have had Nashville-like defensive depth had they taken Morrissey, Pulock, Zadorov, or Theodore.

I've definitely said that if I were a Ranger fan Seguin would be a great signing, but it's early to assume (not saying you're assuming) that he's going to want to leave Dallas.

I just feel like the Stars are going nowhere not to say NYR is.. but its not a team I would be dying to stick around with
