Totally, but he's so much fun to watch.
Don't tell me you would rather have Crysby than Ovie.

I honestly don't get the hate anymore. Not typically a dirty player, just a guy who plays hard all the time and shows emotion. He is a true leader and his team is totally feeding off of him. We've gotten a lot of chances to watch him against the Rangers over the years and he almost always impresses, at least for me. Doesn't whine, just goes to work.

He is a generational talent not purely based on skill but also the other intangibles he possesses.

A true leader... - not his first 10-12 years in the NHL!
A dirty player... - yes, always was!
One of the best goal scorers ever... - without a doubt!

I think you suffer from tying Ovechkin to his TEAM failing. It's not squarely on him that his team hasn't been this far until now. He doesn't do a disappearing act in the playoffs. I can't recall too many elimination games where he was invisible. Sometimes you can't win it all alone, see Lundqvist. You need a teammate or two to take the torch when you don't have it. Ovechkin almost always has the goods. He's averaged a goal almost every other game in the playoffs, that's unreal.

As for being dirty, hes crossed the line a few times for sure. But sometimes that's a product of his frame running into another player that just can't match up physically. Can't think of too many others that posses his durability and play his style as well.

Holtby has hit another level this series which is ultimately why they’re gonna win this cup. But Ovechkin has never been more engaged DEFENSIVELY the he has been this year, he has taken that part of the game off for years, to be fair. That Nintendo controller gif thing has been used more then any gif I’ve ever seen and it was for a good reason, he was always terrible defensively. He finally bought in this year. His offense was never an issue. For the record I’ve never for a single day hated Ovie, and Sid for instance I hate more then any player in history.

Bure is one of my most favorite players ever. Fedorov is right there too. I used to detest Ovechkin but I've come around. He's won me over.

He definitely had serious defensive deficiencies and yeah, that gif is one of my favs. I've used it many times.

He has definitely bought in fully and completed his game. He is a complete player now for sure.

Holtby has been unreal. Conn Smythe?

Nah. Gotta be Ovechkin. Holtby didn’t rally turn it on til the end of the ECF. Which may be enough to get it, but Ovie has been the winner start to finish imo

Nah. Sometimes in sports it’s always just gonna be the Captain or, QB for example. Ovie has it in the bag

I’m not counting Vegas out yet tho. No way they lose gm 5 to end the season there. But Gm 6 I think Caps get it done. I’m rooting for Vegas and the whole story. Call me a puss it’s cool lol

That's all good. I don't want them to win since I'm a bitter jealous Rangers fan. Their fans can go to hell.

Finals in first year, get the (frank) out of here.

Edit: I actually think Vegas rolls over and dies at home. Robot Ovi is gonna wreck everyone.

I find it odd Ranger fans want a pretty good rival winning the cup. Gotta be honest haha. Granted I vomited for two days in a row when Pitt won b2b, if the caps do it may only be one day. It doesn’t feel great seeing the caps on the verge here
