It is biased to say that for several months Andersen was awesome and our best player? And it is bias to say that many commentators were praising him that he was playing so well? Did he trail off near the end of the year? Yes, probably from being gassed.

And how can you compare a guys stats like Rinne to Andersen or some of the others? Who does Rinne play in front of? Gardiner?

Not sure why Carolina would do that unless the + is a pretty good piece

Not sure either, but it would fit their fire-sale narrative

Why isn't Rogue One in the rankings? :O

And Force Awakens before return of the jedi? HOLY SMOKES BATMAN!

I guess mine would go:

1. Empire Strikes Back
2. Return of the Jedi
3. Rogue one
4. A new hope
5. The force awakens
6. Revenge of the Sith
7. Attack of the Clones
8. The Last Jedi
9: Phantom Menace

Solo to be ranked one day.

- Scabeh

I was considering the saga movies, not the add ons. If so I would probably have Rogue One in around the 4-5 mark.

Return of the Jedi was good, no doubt. The Ewoks/Moon of Endor filler parts are why I put Force Awakens ahead.

I need to watch The Last Jedi again. I saw it only once in the theatres and thought it was pretty decent. The more I think and hear about it the lesser my opinion on it. It's out on Netflix in June so I'll re-up on it. I am surprised that you have it ranked below Attack of the Clones though, that was a terrible movie IMO. Hayden Christenson is/was awful. Whiny little female dog.

I agree.. I can see how Anderson can look like a Vezina goalie when compared to Toskala
- senstroll

The point is you homers on here bashing him. Unbelievable. People saying we need to trade him? For who?

Goal tending is clearly not this teams problem.

Lets start with Jake 'Dear in the Headlights' Gardiner. Or how about our go-to shutdown D: Ron 'play 2 minutes straight on the PK' Hainsey and Roman 'the puck is a live grenade' Polak

But yes... Andersen

Many commentators where. For a while only Vaseline Man in Tampa was hotter...

It is funny how quickly everyone forgets our goalies the last decade...

Yes, lets get rid of Andersen.... I am sure that will work out well...

And seriously, Robin Lenher?

- Hockey_Reverend

obviously everyone is still butt-hurt over the playoff loss. .and not rational.

Andersen was much much more than okay.... with the exception of a few games at the outset of the season...he's obviously a slow starter.

I said this a few days ago... move McBackup if you can decent return for him. Move Sparks if you can get a decent return for him... move Pickard if you can get a decent return. Whichever nets you a decent return you move for pick or a prospect or whatever. If Sparks or Pickard become the backup... look to give them 30-35 starts... keep Andersen better rested.

This

Andersen is a slow starter, for sure. And I think he was just gassed at the end. Everyone on here wants to trade him... crazy. Next they will want to trade Matthews because he under performed in one series.

I think Sparks would net the best return; Keep Pickard as Andersen's backup. I think he is more than capable of playing 25 games...

I agree with you. Goaltending is not the issue for the Leafs, besides which it is hard to predict the type of season or playoffs a goalie will have. The best goalie in the league had an lousy year. Not so sure trading a great player for a d-man is the answer either. LV is doing it with other team's spam and rejects.

pretty clear the Carolina and possibly Minnesota are in "cost reduction mode" more than anything... and will be prone to dumb hockey deals... maybe Edmonton as well with Chiapet doing Chiapet things.[/img]

Mike Augello: What will the Leafs goaltending picture look like next season??
- mikeinbuffalo

If you can get Andersen down to 50-55 games with Sparks or Pickard as your back-up over the next couple seasons you do it...particularly with Sparks seeming on the cusp of *potentially* establishing himself as an NHL starter in a couple years (around the time Andersen has 1-2 years left and would be a trade piece).

I'm not sure I would - and I'm pretty sure Dubas would be of the same mindset - expect a 35 year old career back-up to replicate career year stats in a limited sample size. Regression is likely and moving on or recouping any sort of asset for McBackup is a big bonus. Gotta think Lou would sniff around (not as a starter for NYI)....

I've only seen about half of them.

I thought I liked the original Star Wars - until I saw it last night. Oh boy, it was terrible.

I've only seen Empire Strikes Back once - and that was when it was in the theatre. I'm not sure why nerds like this one - nothing franking happens. It's really just a set-up for the third one.

I still haven't seen the third one. A space race of little teddy bears takes on the Empire? Sorry, I'll pass.

I think I've seen two of the second set. I saw the one with Jar Jar Binks - possibly the worst movie I have ever seen.

And I saw the one where young Darth Vader gets burned up real good in the volcano - I saw it at a drive-in, and slept through most of it.

And I saw the Force Awakens. Meh. Pretty cool graphics - the crashed spaceship in the desert was cool. Other than that, it really was the exact same movie as the original - updated to tick off all the casting boxes.

- Atomic Wedgie

No doubt a lot of the story line in The Force Awakens seems a bit....recycled. But the Fanboy in me can't help but love the movie.

No mention of what the "+" is.. I assume it's Tanev and/or Loui Eriksson, cause everyone wants Tanev..
- PatC80

In Tanev for Hanifin, Carolina would have to add.

Vancouver fans are completely (frank)ing out to lunch with the Tanev stuff.

It is even worse than their constant Luongo derp.

its interesting, no one seems to be saying what might be obvious... .

maybe some of those guys (on Vegas) were type cast wrongly... maybe they are simply better players than the teams losing thought OR ever game them chance to be... motivation and the "underdog" feeling go a long way.

since goaltending is not a problem for the Leafs... who can they add in FA that might help the D (ignore trades for now) - obviously those who bring something to the table the Leafs don't already have?

Carlson - (obvious)... at 7.5M ?????

Ian Cole (Columbus/Pitts)?
Greg Pateryn (Dallas) #6 guy
Sustr (Tampa) #5-6 guy

what about RFAs?

Why can't both be true.

There were moments, too many moments, where Andersen poop the bed against Boston.

Game 7 was not all Gardiner's fault. Yeah he had a poopty game, but Andersen did also and when your goalie has a poopty game it becomes really easy to pick apart mistakes by the whole team because too many of them are ending up in the back of your net.

You'd imagine the Canes would want an NHL ready forward of some description.

Why do you think Minnesota is in cost reduction mode?

They are good trading partners though, very old forward group and Dumba is an RFA. He might be a good fit. RHD that can hit.

Yes Matthews was next to invisible against Boston.

They are two completely different situations.

Two things that Vegas has going for it is that all there players are as fast as hell plus the fact that they have no pressure at all. They had zero expectations. When the pressure is off, most players are better. (See Gardiner)...

I expect Vegas to win the cup, then fall back to earth next season and miss the playoffs...
