I say give Sparks a shot to compete with Anderson. If Anderson was even average, we would have beaten Boston. He was the worst #1 by far in the playoffs and average in the regular season.

I'm sorry for the fans of McBackup, but you don't drop a 24 year old on waivers. You keep him and trade the 35 year old backup. What is Andersen asks for 6.5 plus on his next deal? I haven't seen anyone in the Leafs system who is even close.

Lol. Without Andersen standing on his head during the season the Leafs may not have even made the playoffs.

He stood on his a lot of games, but most games the Leafs just out scored their opponent.
That has to change.
They need better defense, plain and simple.
But I don't think Andersen is the guy.

He had his ups and downs. Started out slow. Good mid season, and a little down near the end.

He wasn’t their mvp imo.

Also even mcbackup played great, you have to go with the younger goalie in sparks who has paid his dues and hope he takes that next step in the nhl.

Andersen was their MVP last year. He was outstanding.

i'm down. sell high on a mcbackup (idk, a 5th for a backup goalie)?

let sparks and picard battle for the backup role. hopefully the younger sparks pulls it off.

I'm with Bobby on this one: Leafs fans have overrated Andersen.

Leafs are in a weird predicament: 2 AHL goalies who will get claimed, and an NHL backup who was statistically better than the starter.

I honestly wonder what we could get for Andersen.

If Andersen is masking flaws in the team during the regular season and crapping the bed in the playoffs it's best management knows it in advance.
If we can see they must be able to, or they think it was an anomaly.

you can sneak goalies through at the end of training camp. most teams need to be set on their goalie tandem, tough to squeeze one on to your roster.

but i think the better move is to get ahead of the goalie jam coming up. mcbackup is 35 and coming off a career year. babcock doesn't have faith to play him a lot. sell high.

we need a backup who can play 25-30 games. i think ug may have been right, andersen could have been worn down by the end of the year.

but if we move andersen, then we need proven starter coming back...

Andersen played out of his mind most of the season, with the exception of his slow start.

Imagine when we actually have a functional defensive core?

Also I actually believe they will be better defensively when that soft ass third line is gone.

But you can just send McBackup down, no one will claim him.
Need to keep Sparks.

I don't think they can trade what they have for anything much better than Zaitsev unless its Nylander or Marner going the other way.

Yeah, I would be very upset to see Sparks go in a trade.

He looks really promising, and it's so difficult to find promising goalie prospects.

But they won't, If i'm a gm the only one I claim is Sparks.
So he'll be the backup next year.
