Hey - I know this blog is about Carolina trading with the Oil. However, I want to throw this out there. I think there could be a match in trading partners between the Flames & the Oilers. What do you think of Brodie for Edmonton's 10th overall + Puljujarvi (SP?)? I don't know that the Oilers are willing to get rid of Puljujarvi, but Brodie is exactly what they need and he was a Gulutzan favorite - in case Gully has any input on such a trade - I'm sure they would at least ask Gully's thoughts on Brodie. With McDavid's breakaway speed & Brodie's ability to hit long passes (forehand & backhand) on the fly - that could be a productive combination.

Thoughts?

Brodie was trash last season, you are not getting a 10th overall for him.
- DDM-Coga

He didn't have a great year - but there were some serious personal issues he was dealing with. I really think he is going to bounce back this year. When he was on the top pairing, he played his best and he would likely be on the top pairing in Edm. He is a 27 year old RHD who still put up 32 points in a bad year. The ONLY reason that I mention getting rid of him is that the Flames can likely fill his spot with their depth and it would help them with their other needs (RW & draft picks)

No troll job - serious suggestion.

What would the Oil offer for Brodie then? It is out there that they are shopping their 10th overall and they need what Brodie offers. The 10th alone for Brodie is just not enough. Any counter offers?

He can shoot left or right, if I am remembering this correctly his preference is right shot, but the Flames have been playing him on the left side.

Anyway - If I'm wrong then Oops! Doesn't sound like you guys are interested in any event. So let's move on.

No. He shoots left only. He played on the right with Gio for a couple years but he benefited from playing with a great dman on his pair.

He isn’t what we want.

Brodie for the 10th, Benson and Russell.
- Wildschwein

Benson is LW, but the Flames need RW badly - and Russell - no thanks.

There has to be better options out there for what Brodie offers. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Brodie traded at the draft and it will be something along the lines of a first + 2 seconds as Tre tries to get back what he gave up for Hamonic. I still believe that Edmonton, Toronto and possibly Pittsburgh are the 3 teams that really need what Brodie brings.

hopes and could be are not going to get the 10th overall and your rivals best true winger (and only true winger) for a guy struggling and needing to bounce back.

Klefbom for Brodie is more likely to happen vs that trade. 10th and Puju can land younger and better dman than Brodie....plus its already gong to be traded for Barrie

Is David Staples retarded ?

EDMONTON JOURNAL: David Staples reports there’s ongoing buzz among some Montreal Canadiens follwerss expressing the hope their team might trade winger Max Pacioretty to the Edmonton Oilers “for either Ryan Nugent-Hopkins or Oscar Klefbom or Darnell Nurse or the 10th overall pick, or some combination of all of them.”

- Reveen.

Oh...well if their fans HOPE there's buzz around a deal...I mean it's as good as done.
