Stone is not good. Hardly an improvement. Same type of player. Maybe he is more aggressive. Arizona gave up on him, went with youngsters instead. Not quite sure on Stone as my memory of him blends with others when he was early on trying to stick in Arizona. Just.an offensive dman who never stood out in Arizona. Brodie is Keith size. Last few years he has not had much positive.....before Calgary improved its depth Brodie was small quick type.Skating.was good zaBrodie, maybe avg for Stone. Someone else will surely shoot down their acquisition as they should
. - jhawk59
Yeah, if the Hawks are to deal with Calgary, I'd prefer Brodie over Stone. |

I don't think so. Assuming neither Murphy or Gus are traded, I think there will be one LD signed:
Keith, Murphy
Gus, Seabs
x, Rutta
Oesterle is 7th or on his way out and Forsling didn't prove anything yet. It might serve him better if he plays heavy minutes in Rockford and to be honest, he might be more valuable to Chicago as a trade chip. For the top 6 D, I think Dahlström is ahead of him now.
I agree with your assessment of Moore, he is a local kid, but that ship has sailed. Depending on the price tag, how about Hickey? Or looking at cheap RD options, I would consider Pateryn. - stonefire
Hickey is worth a look and he's a UFA. Arguably the best blueliner as far as actually playing defense on the Islanders.
I remember the Hawks having interest in Pateryn in the past. Not sure what his FA status is. |

Gotchya. Don't like Wilson. I like his 79 hits and 13 points in 18 playoff games. In the bigs since he was 19 and not cuz of cap problems.
Have read, I'd assume, that big hits and hitters aren't as effective mathematically as most believe.
Tallon gave up Marchessault and Smith, 2 1st liners for Vegas. The Army guy was right to bust Tallon down? Army guy was right that he doesn't need hockey people? Wrong to bring him back? Was he right to object to Gallant being fired? - Mr Ricochet
Hits are like blocks and faceoffs, in a way - more important in key situations than they are at a high volume. High hitters typically mean lower possession of the puck, but that's not always the case. Smart hits and physicality are key imo. I always thought that was an underrated part of Bolland's game, back in the day. Fights or borderline hits/boardings/dirty plays typically do not have the impact in terms of goals/wins, no.
I like Tallon fine, but that point was just to show that balance between stats and eye test people are always best because they're less likely to make a mistake by giving away two 1st liners. It's always about balance to see the whole picture, you know? Gallant should not have been fired either, but that's the weird thing about it because Florida under him was statistically good and improving - injuries are what hurt them - and any stats person worth their salt would be able to see that. Gallant also wasn't opposed to using stats and has guys who run number for him in game in Vegas. I think his firing in Florida was more a power move to remove a Tallon guy and show who was in charge now rather than anything stats related, but doesn't make it any less dumb. |

Just curious... are you Canadian?
I am not sure what your full time occupation is but it should be with a hockey club or as a blogger. (No offense JL. You are doing a terrific job with many of the same qualities. I would not want you to stop blogging for the Hawks.) - -Doh-
Oh gosh.
And no, I am not Canadian. Originally from Evanston but my family moved to Milton (a city outside Atlanta) when I was in high school. Good to know I'm polite enough to be mistake for a Canadian occasionally lol. |

If the Hawks play the same brand of hockey as the Golden Knights, I'll be happy, they just keep bringing it |

Rinse and repeat just isn't getting it done anymore. |

What makes any of you think the Hawks have any chance whatsoever to get Wilson? He's hugely popular in D.C. with the fans, the coach, and his teammates. He's playing on the top line of a team that is in the Stanley Cup Final, with an all-time great, Ovechkin, as one of his line mates. Wow, I'm a huge Hawks fan, but so many on this board are delusional. - BMWChiFan
I think the Caps letting Wilson get away would be a huge mistake, and I would wager they are 19 players on the ice for the team tonight that would rather he come back. I agree with you, I don’t think he is going anywhere.

Well, I’ve always thought Atlantans were among our more civil brothers and sisters. But I also like New Yorkers, so what do I know.

Just a doorman. Ok.
I take it youd love Gallant as coach? Yet he plays Reaves over Tatar. CHI fans lose their mind over Q's lines, when he played Eager or Bollig on his multiple championship teams he was the doorman for, I cant imagine people would like Gallant with those decisions. Or is it ok for him? |

It's also funny that Q is consistently voted - by players - year in and out as a coach they'd want to play for yet its assumed here they don't want to with zero supporting facts |

Wilson supposed to be a tough guy and he goes down like a Futbol player when he was in the process of trying to cross check Reaves. No penalty shot??? |

This is the sloppiest I've seen LVGK handle the puck all playoffs, next closest is the 1st game they played vs the Jets. Got to give the Capitals credit clogging everything up |

I love every time that coward Wilson gets hit by anyone his own size...he stays down and looks for a call.
But he didn't hesitate to get at the smaller Haula at the whistle late in that last PK
And people want that pu$$ on the Hawks? |

Severson's name as a trade chip is getting thrown around a lot on TSN's Off-Season Game Plan series. I know, take TSN articles with a grain of salt. He would be a solid addition but would likely cost more in player/prospect assets than what we can afford. - AEL_Fox
In today's Off-Season Game Plan for the Devils, TSN has the Hawks trading Murphy for Severson claiming that Murphy "fell out of favor in Chicago." Would any of you do that trade? |
