I can't believe this discussion board wants Klefbom over Risto and still has dreams of Joel Armia. If this were the nineties it's like fans still harboring warm feelings for Eric Rasmussen.

Since no one has mentioned him in ages, yet you keep bring him up so.....

But you know what we should do. Just draft Dahlin and all the problems will be solved.
He is going to take us from a 25 win team to a 45 win team, just like that.

Haha, good to hear. Crazy but I’ve read Klefbom and #10 a few times. Not sure who is floating this with an Oilers perspective in mind, it’s crazy and lopsided ( unless someone thinks last year wasn’t just a bad, injury filled season for Klefbom and that he won’t bounce back). Then again it’s PC making the trade and he loves to overpay by a wide margin.

He’ll be gone next offseason, or shift to the wing and take face offs and Eichel’s line. His days as a Centre in this league are numbered.
- Pegullaville

If his days as a center are numbered then we need to move him now.

Remember what happened last time a coach asked RoR to play the wing?

"with TSN’s Ryan Rishaug suggesting this week Klefbom and the 10th overall pick might be a worthwhile package for Rasmus Ristolainen in a deal from the Buffalo Sabres."

Eberle had 59 points last year. They moved him for ryan strome. Im well aware Petry is a 2nd pair D, but he's good and went for way less than he should have. That's my point
- Sabresfan-365

Petry was a pending UFA when MacTavish shipped him out. We didn’t get a great return but he wasn’t a great player either. Decent, but a 4-5 at best on a playoff team.
The Eberle Trade was retarded, but it was one of those deals where the fans turned on him due to his playoff performance ( idiots mostly) and management probably assumed they would need the cap space to add a deadline player better suited for a deeper run in the playoffs ( also idiots, clearly).

Reading some of the talk on free agency (Tavares)...don’t you guys think you should wait a couple years before making a big splash? Just a thought, but maybe after a couple years of Mitts and Dahlin settling in as NHL players you might have a better idea of what you have? That looks like it will a pretty kick ass free agent class provided the best ones don’t re-up.
- Larsson_fan

A lot of people feel the same. It's a long off-season, it would be pretty boring if no one wanted to sign a big UFA or trade RoR. Winning the lottery means there's no draft pick debate.

Have you seen Beauvellier play? could get a different prospect besides soderstrom, was just thinking goalie because the depth on our end isn't so great.

You can draft at #12 or trade the pick.

Risto is not a better hockey player than Klefbom. Rishaug is on the radio all the time here in Edmonton and he I said concerned with Klefbom injury history. Like I said, I don’t mind Klefbom+ for Risto because he’s a righty and we have Nurse and Sekeras and Russel on the left side, but the gap is worth far less than a 10th overall pic.

But that's impossible. I was just told by the smartest professor in the world that if a team doesn't want their player, it surely must mean that he's terrible because GMs only make smart moves and never ever make mistakes?!?

Like 2-3 games

Why would we trade for another center that isn't as good and a mid-first? It's a lateral move at best

I just don't see the value in that at all. I would immediately be looking to trade him and #12 for a good winger again

If Edmonton offered Klefbom and 10 I’m sure it would have been accepted already. Draft one of Bouchard, Dobson, Boqvist, Tkchuck at 10 plus Klefbom and you are a better team in the long run.

100%...But the Oilers would have only a slightly better balanced D core and one trade chip less to fill other needs, or, more importantly a good prospect on an ELC which we would surely need with some of our high salaries and the looming expansion draft.

Unless Dahlin shifts to the right - and actually even if he did your depth on the right without Risto is Bogo and Nelson. Nobody, and I mean nobody, wants to see Bogo on the top pair

Just to add, Oilers GM PC has to get the Oilers back in the playoffs or his ass I’ll be fired, and likely won’t have another crack at a POHO or GM position in the NHL. He will sacrifice a future he won’t be a part of if it means another year in charge.

If I were one of the 30 GMs I would call this Putz everyday.

Don't EVER question the "smartest professor in the world."

This in from Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, speaking about Oscar Klefbom’s trade status on Hockey Central: “It’s pretty clear that he’s been playing hurt. And players who have played against him say that he has been really protective of his shoulder, the way he turns, the way he goes into the boards. Like, he has played pretty hard this year considering he has really been hurting. And the fact that they haven’t shut him down, I think that’s leading to some belief that they are showcasing him. And if you want to trade something that can get you value in Edmonton, Klefbom might be the guy. And I think the fact that they haven’t shut him down when clearly he has been playing with pain, I think that’s leading to some wonder that he could be a guy that other teams are looking at.”
