You know it's ok to think that the Hawks would go after the young d men from Carolina, but you have to think that the Hawks would have to give something up and it would have to be one of the Hawks young forwards. Are the Hawks going to sacrifice that.I believe the Hawks need to address a 2nd line center first.

Stan attempt to trade AA at the trading deadline . The only offer was Columbus. A 3rd round pick and the Hawks have to retain %50 of his salary. So thinking any team will give up anything more is just not going to happen. So stop taking AA to Carolina for any of their good young dmen. yes Carolina will take AA for TVR or Dahlbeck. But that would be pushing it.

Agreed
No team is knocking down the barn door to get a thoroughbred like AA (cough cough).

How much do you trust Bowman and company to right the ship? Bowman's plan whatever it is needs no failures this offseason. I feel that it would be better if they did a full rebuild and stink for 2-3 seasons rebuild the system create a new core maybe center around kane and go from there. Bowman failed the last 3 years he cannot not fail this offseason.

You, like many others on this site are fooling yourselves if you think a rebuild will happen quickly.

It took this team 49 years between cup wins. It may not take that long for the next one, but 20-30 years sounds about right - and that's being generous.

Ask the Oilers fans how their rebuild is going - and that's with four #1 overall picks. They are currently at 28 years - and it doesn't look like their next cup is coming anytime soon.

So be careful what you wish for........

Quit valuable this level where a veteran smarts & experience stands out. Not necessarily goals scored has been big, although among 9 many on pp I believe. A mentor to the kids for sure, seeing how to play defense when you are not a fleet roadrunner.

That is what i like them to do but a rebuild i agree is not. Going to happen bowman and q jobs are on the line. Hopefully don't turn into Detroit.

LOL. Anisimov has no real value to the anyone...an aging, slow, faceoff losing center who is oft injured.

You MAY could coax a 2nd round pick out of someone or an average prospect, but no chance Anisimov is a focal part of the return for a kid like Hanafin.

- kwolf68

The value that is attached by some to Anisimov always surprises me. I have said for a nunber of years that if Anisimov is traded it will be very much a salary dump and fans should be happy with whatever comes back.

And for something completely different.....

The more I am reading about draft prospects, the more I am thinking the player the Hawks should target is Joe Velano.

He sounds like a future #1 center - and at 6'1" 195 - already has NHL size - with room to grow. And he should be available at #8.

Thoughts??

.....ugh...thanks Justin

-Same bloated contracts with NMC
-Same poopty PK
-Same unimaginative coach
-Same Seabrook the human pylon
-Same we have no money to spend on free agency because all our money is tied up in 4 contracts
-Same we love Toews as he's the face of the franchise when in reality he's sucked ass for about 3 years and basically untradable
-Same we will miss the playoffs.

But on the bright side!

I would pass on Tkachuck - seems to me that he will finish college - then pull a Hayes/Vesey on whoever drafts him.

Velano looks like an under the radar pick that teams will regret passing on in five years. Big, fast, great shot and excellent defensively - remind you of anyone??......

To pretend that they will be contenders or even get into playoffs with one or 2 trades is IMO a delusion. What, they will compete with Peg or Nashville for Central if they magically trade AA for Hanafin? He will not rescue them, maximum they will not be in the last place in the Central but maybe 6th. Might as well stop delusions and start long term rebuild (and 2-3 years rebuild will not help, we are stuck now like in post 1992 era for a while).

Relentless = running 4 lines. Relentless = pressure on the forecheck. Relentless = getting after it and throwing some wood. Relentless = keeping the area around your net clear. We will see Q. We will see.

Not moving Q now will set this team back. This team needs new a philosophy behind the bench. He is saying whatever to keep his job. Q will always be Q and will fall back into bad habits when the team struggles and is losing. Just dont see Q changing much at this stage in his career.

MAF has been outstanding

Yes he has. And as you noted earlier, Conn Smythe should be his if they win the Cup. i for one hope they do. They should have already opened many eyes around the league this year, especially with this playoff run. No matter how it ends at this point. But i think it would really be a hoot if they were to pull it off.

And Hellebuyck has been anything but outstanding. The goal he gave up in game 3 right after the Jets tied the game was a killer and then he did it again tonight. Even though the third goal by Riley Smith was a nice shot, Hellebuyck was way off his angle and gave him the short side. If he plays he's angle right, that shot hits him in the chest. Aside from the first game against Nashville, where he was fantastic, he has been nothing better than just ordinary in the rest of the games. I'd seriously consider playing Mason on Sunday, but don't see the Jets doing that. Like Eddie O always says about goaltending . . . if you don't have it, you got no shot. I know he won over 50 games and is in the running for the Vezina, but that was the regular season and he just hasn't come up big enough for the Jets in these playoffs. Won't say the series is over, but obviously the Jets need to play with the lead or be no worse than tied. When Vegas has the lead, they really clamp things down and patiently wait for you to make a mistake to jump on. Also, not exactly one of Big Buff's better nights.

The Oilers did have 4 #1s but except for McDavid the choices were frittered away. Hall was also a great choice but they gave him to NJ for a D-Man who does not stand out. When RNH was so small but highly rated should’ve went with a big D-Man. Yakupov just didn’t pan out at all. So having the #1s is one thing making then count is quite another. Hawks were lucky with Kane at 1 and Toews who should've went 1 at 3.

I disagree with the doom and gloom talk. I look at the Final 4 and I do not see great teams. The Hawks will rebound and be in the mix next year. Too many quality players to just fade away.

Not only was he off his angle he stayed in the blue and didn’t come out to cut the angle. There was only Smith to worry about - cut the angle.

Missed game tonight to see concert, but let me guess the Jets were irresponsible with the puck again, cause game 3 two turnovers at the blue line and Hellys mistake.

It's all a process, look at Vegas, play as one unit and wait for the opponent to make mistakes with the puck and take advantage of it. Everyone was saying the samething after the 2010 season. I wish/hope they go back to the defensive responsible system prior to Ulf

If they rebuild the entire defense core then Patrick Kane can lift this team to Wild-Card contention next year. Let’s not forgot how far out of the mix they were this year....still no certainty in goal either
