HUH?

I was talking about the tax that has been put in place to slow down the over inflated housing market because of overseas buying of real estate for pure speculation purposes.

Instead of taxing everyone buying a house, they should tax overseas buyers that don't use the properties as their principle residence.

That way the people trying to sell their house that they have been in forever aren't having buyers back out because of being over taxed.

All this talk about taxes is just gonna attract He-Who-Can’t-Stop-Arguing.

It is a known fact that many Chinese investors spec bet and artificially inflate the housing markets by disproportionately buying houses (as opposed to people from said country) they do not even furnish. It is nearly impossible for the average Chinese investor to access foreign markets so they try and proxy it with housing, decreasing supply and thereby increasing the very assets they are buying, which often prices out domestic citizens seeking to buy property in that very location.

It is what it is - there are arguments for both sides, but it definitely helps reflect the current housing prices

A couple of Christmases ago, Mrs. Wedgie and I were at a Christmas party. We were talking about what a fantastic vacation we had had in Whistler and Vancouver that summer. Some woman we didn't know proceeded to tell us how foreign buyers had ruined Vancouver, destroyed the neighbourhood she grew up in, etc. She got pretty heated - it was really, really awkward.

"Ummmmm, well we had a good time..."

The anger is real in Vancouver, and it isn't pretty.

It’s coming up, I went yesterday to the urologist to discuss it. They will call with CT scan date, then surgery date.

How are you doing?

- LeafMan

Cleared up. meeting with urologist in a couple weeks to make sure everything is gone.
Still some lingering from the whole thing I need to talk to him about.

Nowhere near as serious as what you have had to go through

We reno'ed our house about five years ago. Contractors were a husband and wife team.

They were in the house at the very end of the process - doing some final electrical work (the electrician was present).

Atomic Wedgie: I'm glad you are here - we have major problems with the electrical - I think you are going to have to re-wire the entire house.

Contactor, ashen-faced: What's wrong?

AW: well, it seems that my wife and kids can turn on all the lights in the house, but I'm the only one that can turn them off.

The electrician and contractor-husband thought it was funny, but Mrs. AW and the contractor wife dudn't like it as much.

This is way too much truth.

So (frank)ing annoying.
