That's interesting...this is how it was for me
Edit: Now that I think about it, we didn't have an A+
94-100 A
90-93 A-
87-89 B+
84-86 B
80-83 B-
77-79 C+
74-76 C
70-73 C-
60-69 D+/D/D- (same trailing numbers as above)
<60 F - RickJames77
never seen anything lower than an A in my life so i never needed to know the scale
lol just kidding im really dumb |

Zaitsev needs to have a bounceback year, but getting over a concussion and missing that many games... pretty tough to do.
But I agree with U_G: we need a #1D, or at least a reasonable facsimile playing on the right side with Rielly.
Everything falls into line and looks a lot better if we had somebody like:
Rielly Trouba/Carlson/McDonagh/Hamilton
Gardiner Hainsey/Zaitsev
Dermott Hainsey/Zaitsev
Holl/Carrick - gravyface
Oh come on now. Trouba likely stays with the Jets, I'd bet Carlson resigns with Wash. Hamilton will not be traded. McDonagh seems like the only viable option and he's gonna cost a boatload. |

McDonagh is left-handed, I doubt Tampa Bay trades him, gave up a lot, and they have him for one more year |

Trouba has already asked for a trade in the past, and after next year, he is a UFA I believe, so they may want to trade him before he potentially walks.
Carlsson might want to test free agency to see what he can get, and there have been reports out of Calgary potentially being open to moving Hamilton(albeit for an outrageous price) due to their depth in that position.
If anything McDonagh is the least likely possibility out of all to those names as Tampa just traded for him. |

I agree, McDonagh is going nowhere, Tampa gave up a lot just to get him. I doubt they trade him with a year left on his deal.
Carlson might get $8M per season, which is too much for the Leafs;
Trouba is an RFA and will get paid, If they win the Cup this year, I think he stays in Winnipeg.
Hamilton, while he would cost a lot may be the best target, I remember hearing that he was upset when Calgary waived his brother.. Maybe, there is something to the Hamilton rumours.. They've been floating around since late 2016. |

I dont disagree with your comments, but it is also possible that Trouba simply doesnt want to spend his career in Winnipeg. He wouldnt be the first to want out from there. |

Rielly - Keeper, #2 D.
Hainsey - Old, not part of the future so he doesn't matter.
Zaitsev - Terrible contract, not living up to it right now. Should be traded if possible.
Gardiner - High risk player, pending UFA, might need to be traded if not replaced or re-signed to a good deal.
Dermott - Part of the future, needs more time to develop, possible top-4 D.
Polak - poop, get rid of him.
Carrick - Still young enough to develop a bit more, cheap, worth keeping a bit longer.
Need a legit #1 D, preferably RHD and 25 or under.
Need two more top-4 D, preferably one who can score (if Gardiner is to be replaced) and another one who can at least skate, pass and defend (to replace Zaitsev).
There's a lot of work to be done on the blueline, hopefully the Leafs have at least another one or two top-4 D in the system in the form of Liljegren, Dermott, Rasanen and Nielson. But there doesn't seem to be a legit #1 RHD in the system and it's a big need, one that would be worth the price of paying. - Unholy_Goalie

Trouba asked for a trade when his team was getting swepped in the first round. Considering they are going to be a cup contender for years to come, I'd think he would change his position on the subject. Just my opinion.
Carlson, sure he could test free agency, but I still think the same logic applies to him as with Trouba. If the Caps can dump some salary and sign him then I think he stays.
Hamilton - come on. Gio doesn't have much left in him, Hamonic and Brodie had off years, why in god's name would you trade your best d man who is locked in at a very reasonable price? Like you said, it would cost a ton, so I just can't see it happening.
Sorry, I didn't know McDonagh's contract situation. I assumed that he was on the list because his contract was up. So yeah I agree, least likely. Still, I don't think any of these guys are all that likely to be a leaf come October. |

I think Trouba would be a great fit in Toronto;
I'm hoping that there is another contract dispute there, and the Jets decide to trade him to Toronto;

Trouba would be a great fit for toronto. I wanted the leafs to grab him a while ago.
Doubt the jets move him without a team overpaying. |

Jim Toth:
Sources are saying that pending RFA defenseman Jacob Trouba has told his agent that he wants to remain in Winnipeg and wants to sign a long-term deal. It doesn’t mean a deal will get done, but there is a desire for Trouba to stay in Winnipeg long-term. |

Combine that with the fact he’s grown substantially as a player since the original trade request he’s no longer acquirable for Toronto. |
