A lot of people cite this as a reason to draft him instead of Dobson
- NorthNuck

I wonder what JB thinks of Boqvist and Hughes. If he does like them with the rest. Looking at 9 players to draft then. NYR sitting at 9 with extra picks in rounds 1 and 2.

I honestly haven't done the research to know which of the 2 I like more. If they were really close though I could see chemistry with OJ being a reason to lean towards Bouchard

This is 1 of this guys better articles and he talks abit about the pairing of Juolevi-Bouchard.

From a different article.

“I instructed our guys (scouts) that this could happen and we could be picking 9th. I told them to do the work and there are 10 guys that we really like. We just have to make sure that we have them in the right order. There are at least two or three [defensemen] that we really like. We’re going to take the best player available. If there’s another forward at 7 that we feel will turn out to be the best player, we’re going to take the best player available.” (TSN 1040)

“I think the players at the top of the draft have a chance to step in and play next year. The pick at 7, I would think, would probably need a year of development whether it be in college or junior. We’ll see what type of summer they have and how they perform at training camp. One thing about this year’s draft is that there’s a lot of depth at defense, especially in the 5-10 group. We need some scoring at defense and there are some players that can fill that void for us. We’re going to take the best player available wherever we pick.” (TSN)

Before the draft lottery Benning said he thought there were 7 players that stood out among the rest. My guess is that if the top picks go as he thinks they will he will be left with 1 guy to pick. Who that is, that's anyone's guess

Dobson is the better player from what I've read.
- LeftCoaster

Bouchard will end up being the 2nd best dman in this draft IMO.

He was 2nd to Dobson in backwards skating at the OHL skill comp.
He was 2nd among all skaters with shots on net in the OHL last year.

Pair that with his offensive totals, hockey sense and deadly shot he is the total package compared to Hughes, Boqvist and Dobson.

We already have a couple smooth skating, risk taking young dman with muffin shots.

Yeah but who are the 10.

If any of Svech, Zadina, Tkachuk, Wahlstrom make it to 7. Getting a forward.

Which D are his 2-3 he likes? RHD Boqvist, Bouchard, Dobson. LHD Hughes, Smith.

I stated something similar a couple months back and waffle back and forth between him and Dobson, probably because of recency bias...Dobson still playing helps his cause somewhat.

I think Tkachuk is going to drop lower than most think. I don't think he is top 7

I like Dobson but think he is 4th behind Bouchard, Hughes and Boqvist.

I think the draft ends up unraveling kind of like the Laine year when CLB took Dubois and peoples predictions are scrambled.

I really hope we pick a Dman. We need more defensive prospects so badly or else we will still be rebuilding the defense when all of our current forwards are peaking. I honestly trust JBs drafting though, it's part of the reason I'm trying not to get too attached to any one prospect, I will be happy no matter who we pick.

Morning all! Thanks Carol!

I like Bouchard and Dobson a lot, would be very happy with either as we really need a righty. I like how Bouchard is already a minute muncher and comes in as a huge scorer. Dobson is one of those draft year risers, started the year not even on the first round radar. Sometimes those guys just keep rising. I think either will be great picks. Im hoping for both, with a slight edge to Bouchard as I think he had a more impressive year.

If Wahlstrom is gone I hope we do trade down and draft Jesperi Kotkaniemi

The nice thing is, there's so many talented D in this draft we can trust JB to pick a gem. I won't be too disappointed if he goes Voleno or Wahlstrom either, but a little as I'd really like to see D picked. I wouldn't hate both of our top picks going D, but BPA is fine because so many holes in this lineup.

I could see one of any of Mtl, Ari or Van taking the risk on him.

I'm not a big fan of his but it's hard to ignore that he has been playing up a league the past few years and is still able to make an impact. He's definitely not a goal scorer but I could see him becoming a very valuable playmaker/role player in your top 6.

His skating scares me but I said the same thing about his brother and I don't think it has been a major issue.

I'm more inclined to pick BPA. Pick a few more D in other rounds. Defence doesn't need to be amazing, just capable enough not to crumble.

Normally there are players I like a lot more then others. This year there are 16 players I would like on the team. Only Dahlin, svechnikov, Zadina are players I would take more then the other 13.

Sounds like wahlstrom to me, forward who migh end being best i nthe draft comment. No one has scored more than Bouchard, have to think they like that as well as the knights being such a good developmental team.

Yep, Wahlstrom at 7 would be a steal IMO, I think he is the 4th best player in the draft. There will be some really good dman still available at 37 as well.

Tychonick, Addison, Beaudin, Sandin, Alexeyev, Lundkvist are all guys who might be available.
