I already Announced I’m switching to the coyotes if we draft him
- CanuckDon

Weren't you switching to the knights if JB got extended? Or was that hefty?

His defense partner Galipeau was the highest scoring dman, but I'm sure you meant draft eligible

I know Bouchard played a lot but Dobson was still a top pair guy. Bouchard would likely need to be playing close to 10 min more a game to have less pts/60.

its possible but that's a huge margin.

- belcherbd

Overall points are more important that pts/60 though. If Bouchard plays 5-10 in more/game than Dobson and puts up say 4 more goals and 10-15 more points. That puts him as a better player overall. Bouchard would also only play that much more than a guy like Dobson if he was not a complete liability defensively. I always notice the nest teams have their top pair playing 25-30mins a night, sometimes more in the playoffs. The idea of evening out the minutes is stupid because a bottom pair should not be playing within a few minutes of a top pair, they are there to be defensively responsible, PK(hopefully) and give your better defensemen a rest.

So....
Bodqvist>Bouchard >Dobson

- Pres.cup

If he's as talented as some say then yeah. Having done no research if the concussion history is true then you might want to weigh that risk. I think if he's better offensively than Bouchard that he'll probably be gone when we pick though.

Bouchard is the best PP dman I’ve seen out of the bunch. Hughes is a great playmaker but doesn’t have the shot Bouchard does.

Haven’t seen enough of Boqvist yet to comment

That's the order I have. Bouchard's shot/ability to find guys in the o-zone can't be taught.

I’m not sold on his 5v5 play, but maybe the games I watched were just not his best.

But he’s smooth as silk on the PP and not afraid to shoot it

There's a couple things here though:

1) not everybody can handle more minutes and still produce at the same clip, some guys get more exhausted or can't handle the extra responsability of playing PK for example.

2) not everyone can produce 5v5, Bouchard is the best CHL 5v5 too but everyone looks at the PP.

3) Bouchard played that much because they gutted the team, Mete made MTL and Juolevi back to Finland. It wasn't cause he was a rock defensively by any means, but from what I understand his stats improved as the year went along (which is all you can ask really)

Not bad. Bouchard is one of the few guys outside the top4 that could legit potentially step into the lineup. Boquist, Dobson, Hughes, Wahlstrom are all a ways away.

Lol I hope not. I want the ability to change my mind and if it makes the list it’s basically a legal commitment
- CanuckDon

Haha that's fair. Boquist is one of those 3 year project types with the highest boom /bust in the draft IMO (merkley is another). It would be a bit before we know. Maybe not ideal fro the first round with that in mind, but dammit I like gambling!

Agreed regarding Boucher, he would have a shot at making the team next season if he can get a bit quicker in the summer. Boqvist may pan out but too much risk for me. We already blew the Virtanen pick. Can't afford another mistake this high in the draft.

How nice would it be to draft Bouchard and have him make the team so JB has an excuse to get rid of Gudbranson

MTL is so unpredictable because Bergevin is in over his head as GM. I wouldn’t be shocked if they drafted any prospect who’s ranked in the consensus top 10. Some Habs fans want Dobson.

I could see the Sens maybe drafting Tkachuk as well. Their fanbase seems to love him.

Still think someone should try buying low on Galchenyuk from them. Even if he’s a winger.

- Nucker101

If Ott has any confidence in karlsson signing I could see them going Wahlstrom or Tkachuk. I could also see more win now moves, try to get Grubauer out of washington.

maybe Merkley in the second round and play it safe first round, I could handle that.

sounds like a good plan Also, any of the guys in our range have pretty high ceilings. There aren't any Virtanen's or Juolevi's where we are picking imo. I don't mind Juolevi but he was a safe pick

Sergachev

I would hope that JB does the reverse of that draft and takes Bouchard over Dobson

I was high on Chych. Dragon/Vantel on Serg. Both look like better picks but hopefully juolevi makes some strides and is in the lineup in october.

They need to replace Methot more than anything. I do agree they will try some win-now moves, Duchene kind of forced their hand. Unless they sell high on Karlsson this summer, 30 teams would listen for sure.

Serg is playing 12 minutes a night in the playoffs. 15 during the regular season. Chychrun played 20 minutes a night on one of the worst teams in the league. They may be in the NHL but there aren't doing anything spectacular YET!

It's not like Winnipeg with Morrissey playing top pairing and Philadelphia with Morin playing in the AHL.

Sergachev had a 40 point season, on limited minutes. Thats definitely something. Chychrun's advanced stats have been getting better since game one, injury has been his only holdup. Big reason why they went on a run at the end of the year was him getting back to health

I wanted Dubois. Nothing against Juolevi but he was a safe pick. Doesn't seem like he will wow you with offence (hoping I am wrong) but I'm happy to have him.
