My wife is rehabbing from ACL reconstruction. She told me she may want an exercycle for the basement.

So I took a quick look on Kijiji yesterday - the ads are quite sad/hilarious.

"Almost new exercycle. I bought this a year ago and have used it less than 10 times. I've given up all hope. Asking $200 or the equivalent in donuts."

- Atomic Wedgie

Ahh that sucks - hope she gets better quickly

If you're not ready to commit to it then it ain't gonna happen no matter what you buy. I was and this is what I wanted and how I wanted to do it. I have a lot of fun with it and I have a handful of friends that have one as well and we often do the same class which builds in a nice competitiveness aspect. Except when I try and keep up with one of my friends that's just an animal on the bike and then wake up the next day feeling like and elephant slept on my legs.

I poop you not, I was golfing with a larger guy this weekend and he stepped in a small hole and all his momentum almost flung him forward down a hill...kind of hard not to laugh at now, but at the time I was like dude you almost just ate it playing 18 holes with a cart

I have an exercise bike in my apartment that I rarely use. It's tough to get motivated to pedal against resistance for no reason other than doing the work.

Now that good weather has arrived though, I'm going to start my morning bike rides over the Jacques-Cartier bridge, to Parc Jean-Drapeau, around the F1 track and back through the old port again. Super motivating.

And it'll happen for sure... but if Kyle Dubas, future GM of the Maple Leafs, told me that the plan was to develop someone out of the ECHL with the mind of making them a regular NHL contributor, I would tell him that he's too young to be an NHL general manager and that his job should be done by someone at least twice his age.
- TheMussel

Has anyone actually seen an ECHL game?

I'm just wondering if it would be a good thing to send a really young kid down to the ECHL as a first step in a pro career.

Is it goon hockey?

You are making your assumptions that they will increase payments to RFA's by $17 million - not likely. They will likely make a couple of trades, but even if they do not, is there a single player on their roster that they would rather have than JT? I didn't think so. I would thing resigning Karlsson is likely, Perron as well, collin miller sure after that, who cares?
- winsix

Did you even read my previous post It will easily be that much if not more. There is no way they aren't signing everyone on that list minus one of Perron/Neal. That list isn't even the whole list of players they need to resign/replace.

William Karlsson - 5M minimum
Collin Miller - 3M minimum
Shea Theodore - 2.5M minimum
Tomas Nosek - 1.5M Minimum
David Perron - 5M minimum
James Neal(Likely gone) 5M+

Don't get me wrong, I'm not throwing the bust label on him (just yet...).

I'm just saying that guys here who are advocating that we trade Gardiner this offseason, and insert Liljegren in his place are smoking crack.

- Atomic Wedgie

well the one to be bumped up is Dermott if they move Gardiner. but I wouldnt expect Liljegren to be a factor next season at all

I watched a Brampton Beasts game. It was like watching an angry beer league.

I did not pay for the ticket.

I assume that the Leafs are going to make some moves this off-season to address the Defense. If Liljegren is up, it will mean we have a lot of injuries.

The idea of sending a young guy to the ECHL intrigues me,as the Solar Bears are moving to St. John's.

I remember reading an interview with a Leaf who was sent down to the AHL, back when we had the St. John's Maple Leafs.

The guy basically said his agent sat him down and said "you can pout, or you can totally dedicate yourself to hockey."

So the guy said he basically went from his hotel to the gym to the rink to the hotel. That's all he did. And it paid off - he made it back to the NHL.

I chuckle because if you've ever been to St. John's, you know how easy this would be. It's franking tiny, with not a lot to do (unless you count drinking - then there's a helluva lot to do).

So sending a young guy might work - or it might be the worst idea ever.

Holl
Marincin
Rosen
Borgman
Nielsen

and whoever they might add before the season starts.
i cant see any way he gets NHL time next year

This is the #1 concern this off season. Address the D. We need to find 1 top 4 d man that can actually play d. Preferably big, who can clear the net and actually knows how to play a 2 on 1 properly!

After that, another center. Bozak or someone else for cheap.

Finally, if he wants to come to TO, sign Taveras. If not, meh.

You are also assuming no "bridge deals" ok the bolded is $16.5 million (
Add $48 committed to 19 players (roster now at 23 players with $82 - $64.5 = $17.5 million)

NHL roster size is 23, so they can unload say 4 to 6 players, replace with three rookies I mentioned earlier (Glass, Suzuki, Brannstrom) Easily add about $18 to 20 million in salary and have a full roster.

Check again! They have $25 million coming off the books including about $13 million of pure dead weight players that don't even play. Grabovski, Stoner, Garrison,Emelin.
- winsix

OMG, you know that Hockeybuzz has a cap tool that shows you the numbers right???

Those dead weight players didnt play, and alot of players that did will get a raise. How is that so hard for you to understand.

It's fairly simple math. some players were already signed for more then they received this season.

Jonathan Marchessault - 925k > 5M
Brayden McNabb 1.7M > 2.5M
They added Tomas Tartar at the deadline 5.3M

They need to resign/replace:

William Karlsson RFA >5MM min
Shea Theodore RFA>2.5M min
Tomas Nosek RFA >1.5M min
David Perron UFA >5M min
Colin Miller RFA > 3M min
Ryan Reaves RFA
Tomas Hyka RFA
William Carrier RFA
Stefan Matteau RFA
Luca Sbisa UFA
James Neal UFA

Let me know exactly what you think those players would sign for....

Why was he not playing for the big club? Did I miss something? Was he not fairly good for the Leafs? Physical, good skater, etc? I hope he plays next year...

Agree on Tavares, forget Bozak - if Leafs have Kadri,JT and Matthews up front, fourth line centre can be a league minimum guy. A number one defensive d-man - is the tough one. Carlson is the top free agent. Coming off a way better than ever season, and he is average at best defensively. Green also available, again not a defensive d-man. Trades for a number one guy tough - Leafs would have to give up alot.
