might have to sweeten the deal with leivo

I think Eric Staal is what this team could use for 3rd line center and special team duties. However he's coming off a fantastic year points wise and has a good contract, bet Minny wants something decent for him.

Your turd is slightly less useless than my turd though, so it evens out.

I agree. But depending what pick it is in the top 10, one team would probably need to add.

And by one team you mean the one giving away Gardiner right?

Right??

The discussion was centered around Edmonton trading the #10 pick for Gardiner;

(frank) off. One of the Jays best pitching prospects got his arm broken by a come-backer. It was his 1st start of the year.

Hope it doesn't effect his career. 'Cause he throws the ball 100 miles an hour.

Could trade for Spezza.

The Leafs have so much cap space, they will get creative with it. Especially if Dubas is the GM.

puts out some interesting trade scenarios.

I would do that deal

- senstroll

i feel like borgman and a 2nd is close without ennis in there.

i don't know much about coyle tbh.

I know Coyle had a disappointing season but he scored 56 points last year.... I don't think a third pairing defenseman and a 2nd is gonna cut it.

Especially since he was the "main" return for them in the Brent Burns trade.... losing him for so little afterwards would be a hard pill to swallow.

I also read on the Athletic, an option is to give some RFA a poison one year deal. Like Trouba for a bunch of money off one year.

It dosnt make any friends with other GMs, but it's an option.

why do you assume Dubas is the greatest GM of all times already???
I am the first to agree that there are alot of mediocre GMs still around, but let's not pretend that Dubas is the second son of Joseph and Maria...

It's not horrible. It's essentially the same dollars for Bozak and JVR this past year without the commitment to them.

I for some reason want Spurgeon and Staal though.

- Aaron_85

i am also assuming the Leafs dont sign Tavares. If they do it limits these options somewhat.

But like i said they have plenty of space for this coming season. so taking a bad contract thats only 1 season works

Gardiner is a 50 point d-man on a good contract (even with only 1 year left). That should have more value than the #10 pick.

But maybe that's just me.

Coyle has good size 6'3, 220lbs and is pretty good and would be a good 3rd line center here; Having to take Ennis is crappy tho..

thats where taking a cap dump comes in. It just depends on how desperate a team is to move cap space and/or real money off the books

He's a creative guy, if he takes over there are for sure plenty of things he would of done differently than Lou. And he will change them, and with 25 million in cap space after they sign Nylander it's a sure thing.

that was 2 seasons ago.

Coyle is a big body, but he is a 3rd line C.

Also possible. I target Minny as a trade partner because they fired their GM and it looks like they want to re-build/re-tool. You could trade away the sharks 2nd round pick this year but I doubt the Leafs do that as they already moved their own for Pleks at the deadline.

Staal and Spurgeon are the two guys I target on Minny. I'd take Ennis back as a salary dump too.

If Dallas is willing to retain a bit of money I'd take on Spezza, he had a horrible shooting percentage last year. He's still a good player.
