did you intentionally leave out 2011? Cause Brodin was a good pick at #10
2014: Nick Ritchie
2015: Mikko Rantanen

To early to call on Tyson Jost (10th in 2016) and Owen Tippet (10th in 2017)

I like Nashville. Love their top-4 d, soft spot for Rinne and I really love Arvidsson. Quickly becoming one of my fav NHLers. A 5'9 Holmstrom mixed with the speed of Grabner? Love it.

Poor Canes...what is going on there?

I hope they can find a goalie who can not stink up the joint next season. they deserved better.

But Waddell?

The new GM is a guy who, in 17 seasons as an NHL GM and/or President, has seen his team make the playoffs one time, with 0 wins in the playoffs.

The NHL is truly unbelievable.

that doesnt seem good

they hired Rod Brind'Amour as the new Head Coach.

Maybe Waddell was the only person willing to work for $400K per year

Andrei Kostitsyn, aside from being a horrible pick in one of the greatest amateur draft ever, had an OK career.

Damn Vodka ruined it!

since Hunter >> all other scouts in NHL, he'll make that #10 overall pick into Kucherov v2.0 though

at #10, you could probably take Noah Dobson or Barrett Hayton

In the last 6-8 drafts, the trend is changing though. you can get a real good player at #10

Good article from Mirtle and possible options for the Leafs this summer.
subscribe to the athletic..great content.

That is all

i've always thought the rfa's to target are mid-tier guys due for a raise on cap crunched teams. i don't see it with trouba.

wash/pitts have some low-handing fruit to go after imo. but nhl gm's historically don't agree with me.

stone would be the big name rfa to go after imo. av's should be all over it.

A lot better options, but how many capable GM's would be willing to work for a $400k salary?

JVR in his draft year he was projected as a 'speedy nhl powerforward, with a great wristshot like Jeremy Roenick'.

JVR only this season showed a bit more of that wristshot, but powerforward is a big 'no' and I keep on reading he's 'speedy' - is it his skating style, or is he indeed not very fast.. (he always seems the slowest skater on the team ?).

If Leafs can indeed trade Gardiner and not resign Komarov, Bozak, JVR - Leafs have alot of capspace to work with this off-season.

maybe even a player almost as valuable to the leafs as Gardiner who can help in 5 years.

Unless they have some magic deals up their sleeves to get 2 top pairing D this offseason you have to get more than that for Gardiner.

So far under Lou they have not been willing to move a player who is helping the team now just to get assets for them (JVR, Bozak). that might change with a new GM...no idea
