No need to rewrite the rule book, just enforce the ones already in place. Incite-urge or persuade (someone) to act in a violent or unlawful way.

I think his team mates & coach need to step in & tell him to pull his head in.

Rule 75. Misconduct Penalties.
75.4(iii) Any player or goalkeeper who, after warning by the Referee, persists in any course of conduct (including threatening or abusive language or gestures or similiar actions) designed to incite an opponent into incurring a penalty.

Still running a very fine line in actual rule breaks in my opinion. It could be bringing the game into disrepute as it's horrible look.

I think it's a sign he'll do anything to try & win, which he has basically done for a long while but this series he's been told not to get suspended as they think (Broons) they have a real shot - which they do.

Going to be interesting when/if the team is knocked out what he will do?

He would lick the psychologist and then "accidently" elbow him in the head.

Yeah, just like Wilson tripping Maatta. A blatant penalty being ignored directly affects the outcome. I'm rooting for Tampa, but the NHL reffing continues to disgrace itself this spring.

This licking thing.... That man is deranged.

Believe the league has sold out on drama to drive ratings. This is in contrast to the quality of the game being played. Zebs calls or no-calls adds to the chaos of a game that is ripe with it to begin. Anyone believe a player has a clue as to what sort of infraction will or will not be called? Controlled league effort to manage in-game parity. Calls and no-calls are scored adjusted, time adjusted, etc... The no-call cross check on Jake, after he scored is evidence. 0-1 WSH and then being faced with a situation to go immediately on the PK could've potentially altered the drama (mean ratings) and win percentage if WSH went 0-2. The atrocities of NHL referring have not been localized within any given game or series. They've been rampant across the board. Evidence of non-randomness. These Zebs are supposed to be the best; selected by merit. JOKE. Merit based usually refers to competence/ success. Wouldn't surprise me if the league's qualification of merit describes the best "yes boss, whatever you say sir".

As Thunderbolt stated, a simple 10min misconduct resolves the Marchand antics. The refs would send a message of intolerance, just as his coach would rip his a$$ for sitting in the box.

Speaking of which, we get Wes "The Penguin Hater" McCauley tonight. The team better be prepared to take this to 7 games, because if Wes has anything to say about the outcome -- and he usually makes sure that he does (see game 2 of the Philly series for the most recent example), the Caps can count on a LOT of things going their way tonight, leaving the Pens trying to stave off elimination on Monday.

No team can be concerned with penalty calls anymore. Teams need to be opportunistic.

Pens' depth HAS to step up; that's the only thing they should be concerned about.

Murray is fine. He keeps this team in the game way more than he costs them. His glove hand has been the least of their woes.

But yes, it would be nice to see him work on that for the future.

are you suggesting early PP opps for the Caps, or non-calls that negatively influence Pens chances that ultimately influence momentum?

Pens are 3-3 with McCauley. They are 0-6 with Marc Joanette.

you're spot-on. my point was about the wild variability in calls/no-calls and the challenge for a coach to instruct his players. Borrowing from MS, go out and execute and focus on what a player/team can control. BUT, as a fan, the inconsistencies in calls, or goals/ interference, is maddening.

we need support/depth scoring and for murray to go into shut-down mode.

Pens have not played their best game yet in this series... Malkin healthy, hags is back...(Kessel and Brassard probably not!) tonight will be the night!

Krug out for Boston for the rest of series. Big blow when trying to dig out of a 3-1 hole.

Hags was back last game and was effective IMO.

Geno is clearly not 100%. There are times he's got some jump in his step and there are times you can see he struggles.

IMO where I see Geno struggle the most right now are puck battles along the boards and obviously it's because of strength issues in his legs.

Maybe Marchand can lick it and make it better. Looked like a broke ankle. Bad sprain at worst.

They're not digging out. Tampa is too dynamic. I'm very impressed with that team from top to bottom. Wish we could have kept Kunitz.

They're done. That series is going to be over MUCH faster than I, or probably anyone for that matter, expected. Boston might squeeze one more win out, but the writing is on the wall.

Some analysts felt Boston overachieved this year and maybe they're right, who knows. Is Tampa good? They're a killer team, but I didn't expect this much dominance over Boston.

NHL Playoff stats for Game 5s tied at 2-2:

The winner goes on to win the series 78.9% of the time. Clearly this is big game regardless of that stat and the Pens defied that stat two years ago against Tampa.

Logically thinking, the team that wins has two more chances to win which is simply a better probability.

Yours truly,
Captain Obvious
