Getting past the second round is exciting. I guess beating the Pens in a playoff series is as good as winning the Cup for a Caps fan, seeing how the Penguins have owned that franchise. Caps are gonna get wrecked in tgje next round, as are the Pens if they miraculously advance.

Well, after last the night the two Cup finalists find themselves in a 3-2 whole. So much hockey left folks. This is what it's all about coming up. Elimination games. There's 22 other teams (arguably 23 if you count Boston) that would love to be in the Pens and our (the fans) position. Just have to win one game right now.

Buckle up.

We have all watched at various times this year as the defense struggled. We can say we are certainly disappointed but we can't be surprised.

Pens won two cups in a row and made it to the second round. I’m personally content.

They can have more time to rest, regenerate and make the proper personel tweaks this offseason to get back to the cup next year.

And hey, at least they didn’t lose to the Flyers of all teams.

EDIT:
My guess is the Pens will make some serious defense changes next year.

l’ll laugh if they move Letang and sign Carlson.

Series isn't over. The Pens were the better team for most of that game. We basically lost because of two sub-par players. I still believe the Pens are the better team.

I'd make changes at wing.

Stop pointing out that winning game 5 is great but we still need to win game 6 (and/or 7)?

K cool.

Did you read what he wrote? Seemed a tad butt-hurt to me is all.

As I said: GAME 5. Series isn't over.

I am amazed at how quickly Pens fans have capitulated...
Caps came back from 3-1 last year (to fall short).

While I sincerely do not want a Game 7, it would just be a 'exclamation point' to the series (to borrow from the commentators when Eller scored).

I wouldn't call Letang "sub-par." Not what he was, and his coverage has been, at best, marginal, but there's 29 other teams (Nashville) that would welcome him in their top-4, at worst.

Reports going around that Backstrom is done for at least the rest of the series with a week to week injury of his hand/wrist.

I'm not as down on him as other Pens fans. Still, he's our #1 and he's paid accordingly. It's not just his D coverage, he's making a handful of terrible decisions (in every zone) in every game. I'm not saying trade him out of Pittsburgh, but I expect more from an experienced player. His performance last night was a significant reason for a loss. I call that sub-par for 7.5 mil player.

I agree with this especially that first third period goal. The whole team seemed tense after that. Dumo pinching on that last goal was also a risk not worth taking.

His couple of gaffes ended up in the net... But they could of been stopped too. The big difference in this series is that Holtby is playing much, much better than Murray.

Last night I can honestly say it was the first game in the series, that for a majority of the game, the Pens looked they wanted it more or just as much. I expect more of that tomorrow night.

I wouldn't mind putting rust on the top line past two runs hes scored huge goals get him going

He is not sub-par, but his play often is. I have mentioned it somewhere, but he tries to be the "HERO" when it is absolutely unnecessary. It is hard for him to stay back so he over-commits resulting in those high-risk/high-reward plays. But in trying to be the hero, he often leaves his spot completely empty and teams have been feeding off that. They pressure Letang when he is in the O-zone (just like they pressure Kessel) and he often coughs up the puck.
