Put 10 to 12 million a year in his pockets for the next seven years, we need a true number one center!

.@rayferrarotsn: When I look at Horvat, he never looks like a guy who struggles with his confidence. But if he starts to play some important minutes..it might raise his own bar of what he's capable of. So what you think you can maybe do, now you're doing it.

.@rayferrarotsn: We can talk about Boeser and he's fantastic. And Pettersson, what a wonderful prospect he is. But Boeser is a winger and Pettersson is just coming into the league. Horvat can't not be almost their (Canucks) most important forward, I think he HAS to be. #canucks

Horvat has a pretty good winger in Boeser now. It's time to match his line up against other teams top lines more often.

I like the work Sutter does but Sutter doesn't provide enough offence vs the other teams top lines.

If they could have it so Sutter's line starts in the Dzone vs top lines but Horvat's line starts in the Ozone vs top lines. If that's how the lines are rolling. Obviously if you can get the match up Bo's line vs a lower line you would.

.@rayferrarotsn on Hughes; There's a slickness & aggressiveness with the puck that I really like. He's really small. Whoever drafts him can't be thinking, we'll get a player who will jump right away; but his offensive instincts, ability to skate &move the puck are very noticeable

Umm a big no from me.

Using those same stats, Hutton is one of the best dmen on the team at 5v5
- Nucker101

It doesnt mean Hutton Excels 5 on 5. Stecher is being compared to the League. Hutton vs Canucks terrible D.

Adding to that our top 4 need work.
Losing Bourdon hurt OJ is only 1 D coming along. All the more why Carlson is worth a try.

- Nighthawk

Bourdon?

He would be a older vet by now and most likely playing for someone else. That was the Nonis era.

I don't like small players. I don't like taking them high in the draft like that.

Don't like the high end ones like Erik Karlsson? Same kind of size and skills in Hughes.

I don't like taking players of his size as a 7th overall pick no, nothing to me says he's incredibly talented that you just gotta take him. 5'10" is too small for me, 6' minimum.

A 6' frame says to me you'll be at least 190lbs for a defenseman, you need that much size as a slick offensive defenseman.

Undeniable skill. I would love him at 10-15. Its not the small players. Its the fact you are giving up a larger D who has the possibility of being a number 1 D for a smaller D that is further along in his development and knowing closer to what you are going to get. Probably a good number 2 D.

while its unlikely he grows taller, men grow my width and muscularly till about 25-26 years old. Who knows how he'll be at that age, maybe 220 even.

I'd still prefer someone who is 6'4 and over 200 now tho

😂 220 for a 5'10 hockey player would be INSANE!

Even if he got to 190 he would be a fine number 2 D. Unless Vans working towards a top 4 like Nashville it wouldnt be a good fit

He's not even drafted yet playing in a tourney with no shortage of NHL stars. He may get scratched who knows. He's getting serious attention from hockey people who have no time to mess around.
