Given the team is currently operating without a GM, it is truly impressive that the Carolina Hurricanes seemingly came out on top in this deal in all aspects. Not only was Kruger available to the Arizona Coyotes for free earlier this year, but they gave up Martinook to get Kruger, who is much like a younger, better version of Kruger.
Chayka - manvanfan
I don't think the deal was about getting Krueger (who as you say was available on waivers), but about the pick.
Carolina dumped Krueger (retained salary) with a 3rd rounder to Arz for a cheaper guy and a 4th.
Isn't that what we want Benning to do?
Acquire picks ??
I know I wouldn't be mad if Benning flipped Dowd and a 4th for Krueger and a 3rd. |

You're not going to believe this, but some Bruins fans are actually suggesting they're being treated unfairly by the officials.

One is even going as far as to say the entire playoffs are rigged to generate stronger team interest in different markets, as was done in 2011. Apparently it was the Bruins' turn that year.
I don't think Dr. Mark Recci has approved these statements. |

I like the Coyotes as AZ is my second home. I fear they will never be headed in the right direction as long as Chayka is in charge - CanuckDon
I don't mind using analytics as part of it. You still have to have some ability to understand hockey. |

I think it's next to impossible to 'rig' the playoffs but it sure can be manipulated in one direction or the other. If people don't believe some form of that they shouldn't be watching pro sports. But with Bettman and his merry band of idiots around I wouldn't put anything past them.
But it's hilarious to see Bruins complaints considering what transpired in 2011 when basically they were allowed to do anything they wanted out there after the Rome hit.
And for the record Mark Recchi is a tool. Carried by much better players his entire career. |

Craig Morgan of Arizona Sports: The acquisition of Marcus Kruger may signal the end of Brad Richardson’s tenure with the Coyotes. GM John Chayka didn’t rule out re-signing the pending UFA, he knows the market is very competitive.
“It’s a similar type of profile,” Chayka said. “Looking at the free-agent market of which Brad is a part, I’d say that there are very few of them that check these boxes. With the salary cap rising and demand for center icemen high, it’s going to be a very competitive marketplace. We wanted to make sure if there was an opportunity to get a player like this we did.” |

The only one keeping him halfway in check is Chara. When Chara retires it will hurt. |

Stecher one of the Leagues top 10 Penalty killers...
https://canucksarmy.com/2018/05/04/stecher-pk/
I wonder how Makita feels about this?
Hutton can go. Stecher skates better, he has a better shot, he has better defensive awareness, and he actually excels at something useful. |
