This is about what Lou did with leafs and if he could do this alone for isles hes worth his wenight in gold

The tear-down work that Lamoriello did in that first season was strong. Getting out from under captain Dion Phaneuf’s bloated deal without retaining any salary stands as the best move, but he also acquired a pile of picks (and Connor Carrick) for Roman Polak, Nick Spaling, James Reimer, Dan Winnik and Shawn Matthias.

Lamoriello also created Robidas Island, forcing out tens of millions of dollars worth of contracts to declining veterans to free up cap space and roster spots. He was a very good hatchet man in that respect, willing to make unpleasant decisions again and again to the benefit of the Leafs

I get the age concern with Lou, but he has done far more good than bad in his career. I think Fitzgerald and Fenton could have very promising careers, but I think Lou would be the right guy for the Isles at this time. We can worry about replacing Lou down the line when the time comes and there will be other promising candidates.

Mayfield should retire and start training MMA guys. He's way more portable than most speed-bags.

Meh don't agree so far. Not seeing it and I'm not sure if firing that moron makes me believe they care a whole helluva lot about the on ice product. Also, you say for one like there are other examples but there aren't
- Cptmjl

They care Cpt. Come on they bought the team and want it to do well. The better the product on the ice the more money in their pockets.
Now are they able to make the right decisions to improve the team and their on ice play/product well that has yet to be seen.

In the mean time they own the Islanders and are building a Arena for them and we are on hockeybuzz calling them morons

3. Nothing involving Lamoriello gets announced until he decides it does, but a move to the Islanders is the rumour that just won’t die. I do believe there have been talks and that it is a serious possibility. Assuming he does take over, that probably means a new pitch to keep John Tavares. The captain’s done a very good job of staying under the radar, keeping a lid on his future. Someone we do not expect is going to come out of nowhere to take a run at him. It’s purely a guess, but Penguins GM Jim Rutherford is the kind of guy I could see staying up at night figuring out how to do it.

Thanks Vukota! Hard to believe there has been no contact between Lou and the Isles. Regarding JT, you can never count on Rutherford, but JT to the Pens would be a huge shock.

Darren Dreger broached the subject during a Friday morning radio hit on Buffalo’s WGR 550, when the Insider was asked about the continued rumors linking the veteran executive with the New York Islanders.

“That’s exactly what we continue to hear, is that the dialogue is ongoing between Lamoriello and the Islanders,” said Dreger. “What makes me nervous as a news gatherer is that there is that information percolating. And anything to do with Lou Lamoriello is usually behind a locked door. You just don’t hear about it.

“So I’m not staking my reputation on the speculation that Lou Lamoriello is going to join the New York Islanders. It sounds like there’s discussion between ownership and Lou Lamoriello, but the problem is we’re not able to identify what is the specific job title that they’re talking about.

“It doesn’t sound like Garth Snow is in a position where he’s about to lose his job as general manager, so is Lou going to be okay being the overseer, the president of hockey operations or whatever.

“There’s way too many questions that need answers for us to just conclude that absolutely Lamoriello is going to the Islanders. But the sense is from the hockey world that there’s ongoing discussions.”

Said the same thing about this Asian fellow a few years back. How did that work out? Also, they are morons look at the disaster this team is right now and they let Snow do it right under their noses for the last few years and the (frank)ing guy is still employed by these morons. The entire world has been laughing at them for two years, literally since they bought the team. It's not some big secret that Snow is completely incompetent.

Nothing, zero, zilch, is any sign of intelligence or caring about the on ice product since they've become owners. You're hoping they do which is great keep the positive attitude BUT there's nothing to base that positivity on yet but empty hope. I hope they smarten up and get their shat together its still possible but saying they have to make the team better to make more money is pretty funny coming from an islander fan. Also, I know some extremely wealthy idiots. Wealth is far from an indicator of one's intelligence.

Ongoing is an understatement. This should take two seconds with the owners asking Lou to run the entire show.

Lou might have said no. Or he may have conditions the new owners won't accept. Like Snow remaining in the front office.

Seems like one of these things Jimmy. A 5 year old could close this deal with Lou. This is on L&M if Lou has serious interest taking the Isles job and L&M are being difficult because of Garth. I see no chance Lou turns the Isles down if they give him full control. Lou loves the area and his kid works for the team and the Isles are a dynasty team and Lou would be a bigger legend if he turns them around.
