This is what you'll get for Nelson

- Vukota

Well that's probably close to what a lot of people would have said Adam Larsson's trade value was, too

That's based on what? The prospect scrimmage?

“Toews thrived in his first pro year. He was named to the AHL all-rookie team, won fastest skater at the AHL All-Star Classic and scored 45 points - tied for most among rookie defensemen and tied for 10th among AHL blueliners.”

Faster skater in his first year pro.....kids got wheels. Reminds me of Mayfield. 😂

I liked what you said about Lou. He’s not the savior but he’s a definite upgrade. I’d love to see it....fingers crossed.

He legitimizes the team more, in the court of public opinion, for sure. But some fans are going to act like he is some sort of angel sent down from heaven to fix the Isles with one wave of his magic wand and that's simply not going to happen.

I don't care who they hire, as long as Garth Snow remains employed and has even one iota of control on personnel decisions. Retaining Snow is entirely unacceptable in my eyes.

Now, if they stuff Snow in the garbage, hire Lou, and then go land Fitzgerald or someone similar...that's a different story. Then the owners are telling me (and everyone) that they get it and are finally doing what should have been done years ago.

I have no doubt Lou is not going to snap his fingers and fix everything, but he would be a great choice. I have no worry at all Garth will interfere with Lou if he remains. Lou would be running the show.

Yup. He's done nothing to warrant staying on in any capacity, apart from maybe having him as the the guy sitting in a dunk booth on the concourse. This isn't a situation where he's just had a couple of rough years in an otherwise stellar run. It's not like he's a great collaborator. And he's beloved by exactly no one.

I don't really believe that an idiot that thinks he knows better than everyone else, like Snow, is going to just step aside and concede all his power to someone else...even if they have a good relationship.

Over Snowjob? He's a massive upgrade. An AVERAGE GM would be a massive upgrade.

I just do not think Lou is going to put himself in a bad position and he is going to make it clear this team will have one boss. I would be more worried if Fitzgerald was coming in without Lou and Garth was still around.

APOSTLES
What's the buzz?
Tell me what's a-happening. (Repeat 8 times)
JESUS
Why should you want to know?
Don't you mind about the future?
Don't you try to think ahead?
Save tomorrow for tomorrow;
Think about today instead.
APOSTLES
What's the buzz?
Tell me what's happening. (Repeat many times)
JESUS
I could give you facts and figures.
Even give you plans and forecasts.
Even tell you where I'm going.

Yeah, that's my biggest concern with hiring Lou. I'm guessing he'll be brought in as PoHO, not GM. Garth will continue as GM. Their "great relationship" means Garth is going nowhere. Lou will oversee Garth, but Garth will continue to be in a position to make bad decisions.

Also, let's not forget that Lou's teams haven't won a Cup in 15 years, during which time the game has changed drastically. The Devils did go to the Finals one year subsequently, however, which by itself is noteworthy for an Isles' franchise that hasn't been to the Finals in 34 years.

So while Lou would be an upgrade over L & M overseeing Garth, I'm not at all sure that he's the best guy for the job.

I dunno, I'm not so sure of that. The man is 75 and I'm sure he'd love to work with his son and be around his grandkids all the time. I'm not so sure he doesn't see this as a cake job for him to fade out of the NHL with. I could be entirely wrong, but it just seems like it's not totally far-fetched.

The only way (and we'll never know, so it's really not even worth discussing) that whole deal works if Snow sticks around is if Ledecky flat-out said to Snow: "Listen, I should fire you, but I'm giving you the option to save face, step back and take a reduced role, and let Lou run the operations for this team. You can take it or leave it, but if you leave it...you're out".

Of course the isles will land a guy 10 years past his prime. That's what they do whether its a player or executive

We'll know who is still in charge if Lou comes in as GM and Weight remains the HC

The worst part is that you know that, if we hire him, there will be some dogshit excuse of keeping everyone around for another year to evaluate them or something.

The reality is that someone needs to come in and clean house, almost entirely. Nearly the entire front-office staff, most of the scouting department, and the entire coaching staff should be nuked.

I really don't see any way Tavares is going to find a reason to stick around to watch this crap. It's too little, too late. A hire like this should have been done 5 years ago.

Agreed and there is no way Lou is coming in and firing everybody. Like Staple said last week. Lou is not going to fire the guy who gave his son a job
