Does anybody know what happens if Moulson retires?

It may be a real possibility. His cap hit is $5m, but he's only making $1.6 in real money (or something close). With his career earnings, it may not even be worth it to him to continue

I think we get hit with a cap recapture penalty. If he goes that route, it wouldn't be such a bad thing.

That's what I thought. Maybe the move to send him to the Reign where he wanted to play was a goodwill gesture. "Thanks, Matt. Enjoy the year and your signing bonus, and bon voyage"

Depends on what Matt wants. If he likes playing for the Reign, let him play. If team x and/or y says, if you BO Moulson we'd like to sign him, and he has interest in going to team x or y, I believe the classy thing to do is buy him out.
