I think he's a decent buy low candidate, which that deal would not be
- Sabresfan-365

this is kinda my sentiments. Every fan deal I see for him is exorbitant for the production he produces. I like him as a player. But not that much. Can he be a stop gap 2C? Montreal hardly thought so.

to be fair....weber/subban....and (frank)ing alzner lol

He'd bring a lot more offense and a lot less defense and cost less on the cap. You'd end up moving him to wing in 19-20 when Mittelstadt takes the 2C spot

I'd wager he's going to bet on himself and take the bridge.

Scott Wilson is the exact type of player you need on the 4th line to win a cup. Works hard, doesn't make mistakes, can chip in and jump to the 3rd line if needed.

How many Scott Wilson's do we need on this team ? Let's see.............

Girgensons
Larsson
Fasching
Nolan
Pouliot
Josefson
Moulson
Griffith

- SABRES 89

Mouslon, Pouliot, Nolan and Josefson are not on this team, Larsson also is going back to Sweden. Fasching is trash and Griffith is a career AHLer. You don't get to keep UFAs

Wilson is none of those

The line of ROR, Reinhart and Wilson was a very good line the last third of the year. Wilson plays with a lot of passion and most definitely would be a good 4th line player, that has the capabilities to move up and down the line up if need be. One thing I wish the team would stop doing is when they bring up someone from Rochester who is playing well and having success, they dump them on the 4th line instead of putting them in a position to see if they can succeed. Yes, you absolutely need the Scott Wilson's of the world to win in the NHL.

Good post. Won't ruin the team to get rid of him, but he certainly could help solidify that bottom 6 for us.

Totally agree, when we get a call up we need to put them in an appropriate line. Baptiste gets two goals in a game, then is down to 4th line minutes the next night. That's not how "earning it" works.

Actually, after just reading the Blue Jackets blog, they are discussing Matt Calvert. Now that is a guy I wouldn't mind coming in to be a 4th line center. A line of Calvert Wilson and Girgensons would be a nightmare to play against. They are all penalty killers and I think as a line they would make other teams have a problem matching up against them. GMJB knows the value of a solid 4th line after having Bonino, Wilson, and whoever help them win a cup. It would also allow Sean Malone more time to develop in Rochester.

Isn't Wilson better than every person on this list though? Fasching Nolan Moulson and Griffith aren't even bottom 6 forwards IMO.

And whats up 89, hope you are well big cat.

I'm fine thanks, hope all is well with you and yours.

Botts traded for him, so he obviously likes Wilson
And he played pretty decent for us
We just need to bump him down to LW4,
instead of LW2

Calvert would be an amazing low cost add. I've armchaired him into a couple capfriendly lineups.

I did not realize that Scott Wilson was such an important piece to the Sabres Rebuild.

4th line players are a dime a dozen people... We need top 6 offensive TALENT..

You hold onto valuable role players that are cap friendly. No one's saying he's taking the top 6 wing job. And today's piece is about him. So...

Try to realize a team is more than the top 6 players.
