People don't do it intentionally but it is human nature, so my point was, with a hit like this that isn't black or white, if it happens to your team, you are far more likely to see it as dirty, and vice versa, kind of like when Crosby chopped of someone's finger and the average PIT fan said "hockey play gone bad" or something to that effect. It's not that hard to understand

Haha! There it is!! You guys are great

This is correct. Like you said, it's human nature to give your favorite team/player the benefit of the doubt.

sure thats all fine and dandy. but not when the hit leads to a concussion and a broken jaw from a repeat offender who was laughing on the bench after seeing the player he hit lay on the ice and leave the game. i gave wilson the benefit of the doubt in his game 2 hit. he lost that right last game

Well Wilson has a hearing today with the DOPS. Let's see what happens. I am betting a fine.

Can you only get a fine when a repeat offender?

Truthfully I am finished with this garbage league...how one player can intentionally injure 3 players (2 missed or will miss serious time) in less than 10 games without even a minor penalty is astounding. The officiating as a whole has broken boundaries this year, and is still getting worse each and every game.

I will be waiting and watching the concussion lawsuits as pure entertainment, wonder if they'll bring Wilson in to explain just how clean all of his hits are/were, maybe Milbury can testify as a witness as well.

It was also interesting hearing the play by play announcers all react to the ZAR hit, and then backpeddle like mad that it was a borderline but clean hit.

Maatta was taken out of the play by a Wilson slew foot. Even though Maatta turned it over, he would have been able to get back in the play if Wilson doesn't blatantly come from behind and trip him down.

He's got a hearing.... so I'm guessing he is not fine.

- madmike71

I actually somewhat doubt this. Maatta’s real slow.

Too little too late regardless of what he gets (3 players at least already injured). If he's thrown out of the league permanently then its a step in the right direction...but he'll probably get a $5k fine at worst.

I don't have an answer for you. They might rule it clean. This season's officiating in the playoffs has been on a level ALL fans should be pissed about.

Pretty sure in the playoffs it’s all suspensions. If he gets two games that’s pretty huge for us. Love ZAR but he’s not that important to us.

real shame that for a couple games it didn't go your way, like it typically does. although, the PP on the ovechkin cross check to Crosby was a solid example of the pens getting an undeserved call

I find the pic that everyone is posting to claim it was a clean hit kinda humorous..you know the one from the angle you cant see ZAR's chin or jaw and the one where Wilson isn't left the ice projecting his ape body upward into head so much so that he ends up off the ice and sitting on the boards in front of bench.

Repeat after me. THE LEAGUE DOES NOT CARE. Therefore it is pointless to debate what the should or should not do. Wilson leaves his feet to such an extent that his momentum from the hit lands him in the bench. It's charging.

Wilson is making a career out of running guys who are smaller than him, and then not answering the bell when challenged to a fight. He's a 6'4 version of Matt Cooke. He's a bully. And like most bullies, when he has to answer the bell to someone his own size, he runs away.

Reaves challenged him in the regular season and he ran away.

Oleksiak challenged him last night and he ran away.

He is not an honest player.

The league won't do anything about it, so the only recourse the Pens have is to run guys like Backstrom and Holtby and injure a few of their guys until the message gets sent. Someone needs to take a 2 hander to the back of Holtby's leg in the first 5 minutes. Is that dirty? Yes, absolutely, but the league has made it clear for years that its an eye for an eye. If the NHL and the Caps are going to let guys like Wilson run amok, then so be it.

It's a real shame the Flyers got.their collective asses kicked by the Penguins. Did Giroux and Vorachek even play? I did not notice them on the score sheet.

Just watched the great third period again. Awesome. I haven't heard this much whining and crying since my youngest was in diapers.

Or when the Pens lifted the cup on your own ice last year. Worry about your own series, like how your boys clew a 3-0 lead last night. Plenty there to keep you busy.

I'm sure I'll get trolled, booed etc. Honestly I just don't care, this game has been ruined by the human excrement that continues to be allowed by on-ice officials and the league in general. Let's see, had they addressed Wilson's hit on Wennberg in the first round by suspending him 2-3 games maybe more, the chance of him landing that Dumo hit would have decreased, and possibly the ZAR hit as well. Instead they continue to portray him as a victim, as if there's a witch-hunt, completely ignoring that his play is not what the game needs or fans want. Any fan that wants to watch a mutant board/charge and head-hunt players with actual skill should go watch MMA or something. Last time I check an NHL playoff game ends when one team scores more goals than the other, and shouldn't end when one team can no longer ice a roster.
