Well it appears at this stage, the Pens style of hockey won't get us through against a team that is physical & smart.

Whether that be due to Murray, our 4th line or our stars aren't all firing someone else can decide.

Caps are playing a hard physical good game. From what I'm hearing & seeing they are matching the chances we have. They are taking players out & it's being judged to be legal - that is how it is plain & simple. Apparently breaking a jaw & ending another player's night is how the rules are.

So what happens now? Trust the process? Hope our stars all get going or just repeat the same thing & hope Murray gets going?

I personally would start throwing some extra checks at Ovi. Kunitz drove him mad for a few games & he hates it - he's a guy that loves doing the hitting but hates being hit. I'd give Backstrom extra attention as well & tell him it's from his mate Wilson.

Sully wants to just play, well Sully, will that win again? And for those that say back to back cups proves the 'just play' theme, well punters, teams & players change & adapt different strategies to beat the incumbent champs all the time. For those saying ZAR was looking at the puck, he braced for the hit so he was looking at Wilson. Wilson just hit him too high & his left shoulder hit ZAR straight in the face which would show why he now has a broken jaw.

They'll be another next game, I'm sure. Won't be a big gun like Sid or Geno, but possibly Guentzy might see some heat next game.

Time to score the first, up tempo & try getting a 2nd then just turning the game into a smash fest. Take out Backstrom & Kuznetsov. Leave Wilson on the ice to lose the plot. (oh wait, the Pens might not be able to do that )

Letang is a dirty little female dog - cute slash on Ovechkin after that winning goal by him should get him suspended (he already deserved a 3 game suspesion after the dirty hit on Couturier which was a crosscheck putting Couturier head first almost into goalpost).

Wilson will get a 5+ games suspension for leaving his feet on that hit.

I thought the forecheck last night was not where it needed to be. I thought Brassards line had a particularly poor forecheck and possession. Hags being out limits our speed and forecheck a bit. We are also allowing many high quality chances. For whatever reason Murray looks less than invincible giving up 4 goals on 22 shots. It felt like every time the Caps were in our zone it would result in a goal. Pens now need to win 3/4 games. Tall order.

Pens took the first game in Wash, Caps took the first game in Pitts. In 2009 it was 2-1 Caps after 3 games. So much hockey left. Might we see Sprong now?.... Probably not... probably Rowney.

I think Wilson gets some time, this time. It was an avoidable hit to the head that seriously injured a player. I understand people's point of view about things ZAR could of done too but the bottom line is that Wilson could of avoided it AND the primary point of impact was the chin/jaw. ZARs first ever NHL playoffs is done.

He’s gotcha there. You do pop in everywhere else and give others poop. You can’t just assume people are trolls because we care in here to talk about the game and kept on subject.

I have not seen an angle that makes that hit look directly to the chin. I may not be the only one, like Iggy or Nucker or Mordecai.

Everyone is fixated on shoulder vs chin.... Wilson 100% was coming off the ice right before impact... right skate especially.

It's the only way a guy who's 6'4" could land a rising shot on a guy who's 6'.... even more so if ZAR was crouching down to avoid the hit like people are saying.... Wilson launched himself into ZAR and because of the upward trajectory of the hit caught his chest with ZARs shoulder but Wilson's shoulder caught all jaw.

Either way there's blood on the Nhls hands Right now.... suspend him for the rest of the playoffs and see how his behavior changes Ala Matt Cooke

It's the throwback mentality that is still very strong in Canada (if your daughter gets sexually assaulted, it's because of the dress she was wearing), this site in general, and especially in the NHL with Canadian tools like Colin Campbell and bigger tools like Parros running things and handing out discipline. Now we have cheap shot artist Shanahan in there to give his hypocritical two cents.

If the NHL could be more like the movie Rollerball without alienating too many non sycophant hockey viewers and losing the income of it's sponsors, it would be all for it with Bettman smiling about it like the well paid lackey he is.

Brassard was a waste of a trade deadline pickup. He's brought nothing to this team so far in terms of the playoff competitiveness he's known for. How much is the scrap value of Brass? Can we get enough for a case of beer for him in the off-season?

Murray is seemingly susceptible to any shot over 20' away. For a goalie his height to consistently get beat OVER his glove hand is bothersome to say the least. He may very well be near-sighted and needs to get his eyes re-checked. The reason we beat this team last season was because of MAF more than any individual skater. If they find a way to do it again this season, it WON'T be because of Murray. For a team looking towards a lengthy competitive future, they got rid of the right goalie, for a team trying to three-peat, they got rid of the wrong goalie.

Letang is more problem than he's worth and I'm sick of his act anymore. I was so hoping they would move him for a decent defenseman of size and with much more sound defensive skills and saved a lot of money to keep Cole or Bonino as well, but here we are proving the cup win without him last season was no fluke. They should put an albatross on his sweater instead of a Penguin.
