No. No they most definitely would not jump at any of those players for Weber.
- Iggysbff

All of those players....yes they would! Oh, yes they would indeed. ANY of those players ....no.
Their top 2 lines would be improved, a slight downgrade on the d sure, but Carrick is an NHLer, and the new NHL dman can be small, fast and skilled like Victor.... and the savings! They'd get all 4 for the price of one with some money to boot. They'd get younger, faster, more offence, and cheaper...

What kind of God do you think 32 year old, 6 million dollar man Shea Weber is? Tendon tear in his foot isn't going to make him faster at 32....and I LIKE him, so no disrespect! Montreal would take that offer and a dozen more similar ones in a New York minute....

If the Habs want him theyll just wait until he hits free agency and then hand him a blank cheque, they have the money. JT will be getting the blank cheque treatment this summer, we shall see what happens

Not like it's going to happen, but a trade that could benefit all teams (*trade is in terms of value)

To Ottawa
Shea Weber (6m next 4 years: 3m in 5th year)
Erik Gudbranson OR Chris Tanev
7th overall (Adam Boqvist or Noah Dobson)

To Montreal
Marian Gaborik (1.2m buyout)
Erik Karlsson
4th overall pick (Brady Tkachuk)

To Vancouver
Bobby Ryan
Alex Burrows (comes back to finish career/contract off the books this year)
2nd overall pick

Boucher & Karlsson are going to be bosom buddies next season. Like ice & cream, break & fast, hockey & buzz, peas & pods, Evander & Kane. They're going to become the new dynamic duo.

Vancouver gets nothing here but a good winger prospect. Good wingers can be found all over the draft board, especially if the team has patience. What they need is a premier center....that's not happening in the first round this year.

Ottawa gets an expensive aging, injury prone defensemen, moves BACK 3 slots, and gets a 4-5 d-man...they're rebuilding....this won't fly at all

Montreal wins here all day long! Move's back only one spot, gets EK65, and maybe 15-20 goals out of an aging inexpensive Gaborik....

Sorry man I just don't see it....

Awesome, someone from the group of people on here that actually presents logical breakdown.

I disagree that Vancouver gets nothing; they move up significantly but some fair points. Here's my revised trade that's more fair in terms of value:

To Vancouver
Erik Karlsson
Bobby Ryan [6.5m]
Alex Burrows
Marian Gaborik [1.2m/year buyout]

To Ottawa
Shea Weber
Chris Tanev
7th overall [Adam Boqvist]

To Montreal
4th overall

Why would Vancouver want to do this? That would be a bad move for them IMO. Not at the place where they need Karlsson, all he doe is make them a borderline playoff challenger.

No one is trading a high pick, Tanev, and taking back the contracts of Gaborik/Burrows for one year of Karlsson....

I don't mind Karlsson on the Leafs as long as we can trade Gardiner and some assets for a legit, defensively responsible Top 4 d-man.

Having said that, I'd rather spend money on Tavares and/or make a deal for Doughty.
