Current draft thoughts:

If you can move into the top 5 with 14 and 19 consider it. Otherwise use 19 and 50 to and get another top 14 pick.

No to top 5. Yes to packaging 19 and 50 to move up.

I like the idea of staying at 14 and 19 and hopefully grabbing a F and D. Unless you can get to 4. I think Boqvist will go 5 and I am not sure I like him more than having two shots elsewhere. He reminds me of a RH ghost, but he seems to end up on the left side a lot

I really don't expect to move that high in the draft, but we will see.

Something tells me Buffalo isn't going to be used as an example of how tanking doesn't work much longer.

I like all the wingers in the top 5, Wahlstrom and Bouchard.

Hayton around 14.

I won't be disappointed with that approach but they can afford to be aggressive. They need top end talent instead of depth at this point. It will come down to what the scouts see but I don't want them missing any targets because they wanted to hang onto #50.

Np. I take it you watch a lot of phantoms? I’ve probably caught parts of 4 games this year. You are not so high on Myers? I notice when I watched him he struggles to move the puck when he’s forechecked in the wall
- Just5

That my problem w him. He plays tentative. Most guys that stick are ones with some distinctive attribute above the average player. Sone use speed, size, smarts, big shot, etc. To me, he’s interchangeable with most others. Nothing really stands out. But then again who am I to judge. I’m no famous talent evaluator, so my take includes a grain of salt.

I’d like to see them target Edmonton’s pick at 10 and use the 19th pick, the 50th pick and a solid but not top prospect to get there.

With 10 and 14 odds are pretty good that they’ll come away with 2 very good players.

That's the one pick I thinking that they could maybe pull something off with too.

He’s also a kid, still filling out, playing against grown men in a very good league who also dealt with some injuries. I wouldn’t make any final judgements on him yet.

Chia isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed so he’s always a guy I’d want to deal with.

Have to wonder with all the injuries if it’s crept into his game. I hope he can turn it around. Hexy mentioned Aube-Kubel as a prospect thats going to push the roster. The same Aube Kubel whose stat line for the playoffs is 4 penalty minutes. I’m no great evaluator either but the kid could not stay out of the box all year at the ahl level and isn’t scoring at a rate Taylor Leier was at his age. I hope I’m wrong on all this

I don't see any tentativeness in Myers' game. More the opposite problem: a little too much risk taking. For such a big guy, he can fly. Was literally lapping other guys in skating drills at camp back in September.

Aube-Kubel was also rarely on lower play, whereas Leier had been a PP1 regular.

I agree on needing top end talent, just don’t think they need to pick at the top of the draft to get it. Hence why I said I’d like to stay away from a guy like Hayton and land a guy like Kotkaniemi even though I love Hayton. Thinking of it more like two lottery tickets instead of one. If they can make a trade that gives them great value or if they are really set on someone I’m cool with it, but I don’t think they need to move up to get good players.

Also, on timing, I think this draft is big because it will really be what I believe sort of starts the second wave of prospects. Most of the D is mature now and forwards will be there two shortly. This will probably be the group to replace guys like Simmonds, Jake, Giroux in the near future or possibly the guys that replace someone that leaves for a bigger contract

I watch a lot of Phantoms games and I can’t say I agree. The size is certainly above average. Speed is great. I definitely think he stands out watching the Phantoms. His shot isn’t Ghost but he has a lot more to offer than AMac and Gudas offensively (who he will eventually replace)

Spot on. NAK made some stupid hits, but I don’t think PIMs are an issue. I missed a few of the playoff games while out of town, but isn’t NAK off the top line now? It looked to me like the juggled the lines a little

Your right. I guess that’s a good sign. Lots of even strength points. They need something out of the kid

He looks like a guy who can be a great 4th liner on a good team. Good wheels and skills, brings energy every shift, has a thick build and is hard to knock of the puck and he’s not afraid to mix it up now and then.

When the Flyers get to the point that they are running out guys like NAK on the 4th line is when they will be a contender.

Any idea what Morin s injury has been? Any surgery I involved? Seems kind of odd to be out this long without surgery to solve the issue.
