both goalies playing for contract and to stay in the NHL, this is it for both of them. That is bad and good. Who knows, Nuevy is due for a non injured season, LOL |

If you aren't landing Svechnikov or Zadina, I don't think it's worth the cost to move up to 4. I'd rather see them package #19 with a lesser pick and prospect and move up into the 10-14 range. I'd try and target Edmonton's pick, there is no GM easier to fleece than Chia. - BiggE
I wouldn't mind Tkatchuk at 4.
If they stay at 14 the I am hoping for Veleno or Farabee.

Stranger things have happened, but I doubt Hart is here to stay before game 1 in 19-20 at the earliest - BiggE
I agree, but let's just say the following happens:
Hart comes into camp, and from day 1, he plays lights out. Elliott, Lyon, Neuvirth, and all of the "vets" play "meh", typical veteran training camp style. Hart puts up terriffic numbers in the preseason, and seems fine with the pace.
Is there a chance that, like Bobrovsky in 2010, he comes up to stay? If Hextall stays true to his word about the young players having to earn a spot, they'd have to give him a shot, no? |

Laterals can still end up in the endzone - J35Bacher
Yeah, but they end up in fumbles 999 times out of 1000.
I mean, between Lehner and Neuvirth, give me the average guy who isn't made of tinfoil over the average guy that gets injured eating cereal every morning. |

Lehner has a huge frame and more pure talent than Elliott, but he is a serious head case. I don't think he's good enough to be worth the probable headaches he'll bring with him.

I'm really just all in on hoping that Hart has 20 or so dominant AHL games, then Neuvirth gets hurt, Hart gets the call up, and we never look back. Safe bet, solid plan, right?!?? - pinkfloydfreak

Here's the thing. There really isn't much out there in FA. And I am not sure I am trading anything for a goalie that might not be in the plans because of the faith the Flyers seem to have that hart is the real deal.
Lehner's age and I actually think getting out of the losing culture of buffalo could help. |

I would really be curious on Lehner if he doesn't get a QO. I know he is a head case but so was Cechmanek. - J35Bacher

Based on Hextall's track record I don't think he would call up Hart to be a backup. If that happened I think they'd role with Elliott and bring up someone like Lyon to backup and spot start while letting Hart continue to dominate the AHL.

Yeah, if they needed to make a goalie call up in the first half of the season I wouldn't expect Hart to be called up, no matter how well he's playing. If it's late in the year and Hart has been dominant I think he'd have to give it some serious consideration though. |

I would try the following before Lehner:
1. Try to trade for Grubauer. He's a RFA, so I would try to acquire his rights. This depends on what Washington wants, and you'd have to be allowed to talk to his agent first.
2. Sign Aaron Dell. Guy plays on a good team, but has still put up decent numbers and I'm sure we'd all be groaning about the Frozen references by the start of the regular season, giving us one more thing to female dog about.
3. Sign Carter Hutton as a UFA, assuming he makes it. Can give St. Louis a conditional 6th for his rights.
4. Trade for Jacob Markstrom. Two years left and has put up average numbers on a below-average Vancouver team. Plus I've always liked him. |

Tkachuk's skating scares me a bit. He's far from slow, but he's also just as far from being a dynamic skater too. I like him a lot, but I wouldn't break the bank to get him. My top 15 as of now would be:
1. Dahlin D (duh)
2. Svechnikov RW
I think he may just be a smidge better than Zadina and could end up playing center
3. Zadina LW
Pure offensive talent, wicked shot
4. Boqvist D
A bit undersized, but skating and skill are world class
5. Wahlstrom RW
Scouts have been raving about this kid for years. Excellent package of size, skill, speed and smarts
6. Dobson D
RH Dman with good size, speed and skills. He's rocketed up a lot of scouts lists this season.
7. Tkachuk LW
Prototypical NHL power forward build and attitude with soft hands and great hockey sense. His skating though is only average.
8. Hughes D
Another undersized guy but with great wheels and skills
9. Kotkaniemi C
IMO, best pure center in the draft, very smart player with good wheels and skills. If drops to 10 or lower, he's a guy I'd look to move up from 19 and target.
10. Bouchard D
Don't think he'll be a star at the NHL level, but he's a very safe pick. He's a guy that you will plug into your 2nd pair for a decade.
11. Farabee LW
Good wheels and skills, but needs to fill out. What really sets him apart is his smarts and hockey sense. He could be a real sleeper in this draft and he's another guy I'd target and would try to move up from 19 to get.
12. Veleno C
He's probably a close 2nd to Kotkaniemi when it comes to centers in this draft.
13. Smith D
Another good combo of wheels and skills, has some grit to his game to and is an excellent PP QB
14. Hayton C
Really good 2 way center, that will probably be a middle 6 guy at the NHL level who can shutdown the other teams top C and excel on the PK.
15. Kupari C
Good smooth skating all around player with very good hockey sense. Very similar player to Hayton, but I think Hayton has slightly better skills.

I think Hayton will end up higher then expected. I do think Ottawa could go defense with the chance of karlsson moving on. |

Bring back Elliott to be the starter. Decide who is going to backup and share the net. I don't trust Neuvirth but he might wind up back. |

Jake DeBrusk is awesome - Mordecai
imagine they could have had DeBrusk, Barzal and Connor/Boeser/Konecny. Granted its way too early to say Zboril and Senyshyn won't be players but I remember when that draft was happening everyone felt Senyshyn was so off the board and everyone was shocked they didn't take Barzal. |

After watching a couple games from the Winnipeg/Nashville series. Really have to wonder how close the flyers are, which I think they are closer to a buffalo/Ottawa level than these teams. The points may not reflect it but they have a lot of work to do to get to these teams levels. Keep the picks and make good choices - Just5
games 1 and 2 have been amazing. Winnipeg is the poster children to what you can do drafting well. I really want to see the Flyers add more skill/speed. I hope they take a few home run shots in the later rounds shooting for speed. |
