Swedish coach Rikard Gronberg tells me Elias Pettersson looked good on the weekend, "he played with Backlund and Kempe on an offensive line with pp. Showed great awareness and sparks of brilliance in the games." #Canucks

More Gronberg on Pettersson, "He needs to get used to more physical and experienced players and that will come with more games." Pettersson made Sweden's preliminary world roster.

Juolevi cut from team Finland
- VANTEL

Calm your tits everyone. His developments is going fine.

Juolevi led TPS in ice time in the playoffs, averaging just under 23 minutes per game, and led their defencemen in scoring with 7 points in 11 games. He was dominant in puck possession, posting a 60.4% corsi, and had a whopping 46 shots in the 11 games, including one game where he had 10 shots on goal. As per Salo he carried the team on his back in the playoffs. His development is going just fine.

Longer off-season to allow more time for strength training is probably better for his short-term development than playing a limited role at that tournament anyway.

Dobson on what kind of defenseman he is : "I am a 2 way puck moving defenseman. I like to take care of my end first. Any chance I get to hop in the rush and create offense, I do." #Canucks

Dobson on 69 points in 67 games : "I really improved from last year my shot and getting shots through from the blueline. We had the 2nd best pp, we generated lots of offense from that as well." #Canucks

Dobson on importance of playing in all 3 zones : "Look at the NHL and there are not many 1 way dee-men, you have to be really strong defensively and get pucks to forwards. Very important to be strong in all 3 zones." #Canucks

Over-seas

Elias Pettersson not named regular season MVP but has won the SHL rookie of the year.

Jonathan Dahlen was named the league MVP and best forward in the Allsvenskan.

In bold, how the heck did he not win that?

Thank god. I feel like we are in pretty good shape going into this draft. I want JB to open up some roster spots on both forwards and defence.

Ah, but he was, Rick D jumped the gun a bit this morning: https://twitter.com/cmore...status/991037496380321799

Rough translation: Elias Pettersons hattrick! Super Talent is also awarded the most valuable player in the SHL 2017/2018.

He won rookie of the year, best forward, league MVP, and playoff MVP

Okay well.... Rick D's tweets have been pretty bad lately. He was wrong on how the draft lottery was going to be drawn as well. He's lost my trust.

From Ryan Biech:

Canucks Prospects day:
Elias Pettersson - SHL MVP (League voted), Rookie of Year, and Top Forward
Jonathan Dahlen - Allsvenskan MVP and Top Forward
Petrus Palmu - nominated for Liiga Rookie of Year

Add in Gaudette's Hobey Baker and its a fine year for Canuck prospects. I still am hesitant to correlate any of this to great NHL success but the team and fans should be proud of these kids
