If they see veteran center and penalty killer as needs, I sure hope they aren't talking about two players |

Thinking about trading him absolutely has merit. If the right deal comes along that you think is better for the long run you have to make it. Signing a player at his age to a long term deal does have it's risks. I just disagree with those who call it a no brainer to trade him. - MJL
People who advocate for trading Simmer should also realize the qualities that will need to be replaced with him gone. |

best case scenario, i would like this, too. last year was frustrating, i'm sure most of all for him, and he still managed to pot 24. - hammarby31
Problem is where do you see him on the Flyers? He is going to get top 6 money but Konecny and Voracek are our top 6 RWs. We can't pay top dollar for a 3rd RW. I like the guy too but I just don't see where he fits unless Konecny moved to LW on the 2nd line and put Voracek back with Coots nd G |

Fine. I'll throw in a 2nd round pick - Streit2ThePoint
If i was Florida I would look for something like:
STL 1st round pick
Simmonds
Hagg
for Trocheck |

Sure you can. As someone brought up the Pens have Crosby on one line, Malkin on another, and Kessel on the 3rd. You need 3 scoring lines if not 4 in today's NHL to be a top team. Plenty or room and ice time for 3 quality RW's on a team.

You're a pretty lousy fan for someone who acts so entitled towards the team. |

i would prefer amac by a country mile. gudas can hit the hot and dusty. if they can jettison him and obviously manning is gone, that leaves spot for myers and morin as a 6/7
prov/gost
hagg/amac
sanheim/myers
morin - hammarby31
Considering Myers has had an injury filled season resulting in only playing 50 games I would be surprised if he made the team out of camp but who knows. i want Morin in the top 6 |

True.
I don't think the trade I proposed is a bad one, IF, Florida has someone who can slot into Trocheck's spot in the lineup.
To get a proven NHL winger and D-Man plus a #14 pick, that isnt bad.

They most likely wouldn't, I agree.
I don't think it is a terrible offer though, perhaps a frame work to work from.

Before this season I would've leaned towards Gudas because I thought they were fairly close and Gudas was cheaper. After this season, I also prefer MacDonald. Gudas might rebound but I just don't think he's a smart player. - MJL
I thought MacDonald had a pretty good year and it shouldn't be surprising the Flyers worst stretch coincided with his injury. We've got him another two years and, with inflation, his cap hit isn't looking that terrible anymore. |

he's not smart, has a single gear/no nuance, takes too long to make decisions and move the puck, stalling into corner reverses which almost always turn into a goat rope. i am done with him. i could live with that stuff when he was skating on the danger line, a threat of a big hit...but he's lost that element of his game, and the rest is too much of a negative for me.
my only major criticisms of amac are that he often ends up on his ass in the corner and that he's not very effective in blocking 2 on 1 passes...he usually slides, takes himself out of the play and doesn't get the puck. |

Simmonds is pushing 30. Hagg is a nice player but ultimately probably slots as a 3rd pair defenseman. Middle round first, I don't think it would interest them. Trocheck is a 24 year old 30 goal, 70 point center. If you want one of their top young players you need to start with one of your top young players.

I agree but then I never thought it was terrible. MacDonald has always been a better player than given credit for. He should've never been sent to the AHL in the past.

Its not that its a bad deal on the face, it's that Vincent is on an upward trajectory and is still young... realistically he could easily be in the top 15-20 centers quickly. Plus as you said, 200 foot center at that. |

He is also a very humble and noble human being. I met him in a store, where he and his fiancee were shopping. He took his time to talk to me and to take a picture. After we shook good buys, a store employee with Down syndrome could not stop telling me about his bond with Simmer they had developed over time. How many people can say that they would develop a bond with a produce guy with disability? On emotional level, I want Simmonds to retire as a Flyer (hopefully with a cup ring on his finger and eventual Flyers HOF). - missingmike
He's gonna bounce back next year big time, just like G did. Seriously, (frank) anybody who wants him off the roster. The guy is the Flyers' heart and soul. |

So, 2nd round picks anyone?
I got:
Caps over Pens in 6
This Pens team has holes and Ovi is on a mission, I can't wait to chat with Kenny from Jersey City after this series!
Lightning over Bruins in 6
Unlike the Leafs, the Bolts have some quality Dmen and a top notch goalie. Bruins had some real difficulty with the Leafs speed and they are going to see more of the same with Tampa. Plus, I have no confidence in Rask winning another series.
And, in the West
Sharks over Vegas in 6
It's hard to pick against Vegas, but the Sharks are just on fire right now. I think San Jose gets a split in Vegas and doesn't lose a home game in the series.
Preds over Jets in 7
This is going to be a great a series, but in the end, I'll go with Rinne in a do or die game 7 over the much more untested Hellebuyck. - BiggE
I hear ya the winner get's a week with EK DKK on Barbados |
