I agree but then I never thought it was terrible. MacDonald has always been a better player than given credit for. He should've never been sent to the AHL in the past. - MJL
I think his AHL period was a cap crunch thing. The D had really gone to seed before Provorov and Gostisbehere came along. MacD isn't a guy who can lift a team, but he can play the off D, which the Flyers need, and fill his role. $5M against an $80M cap for a Top 4 RD is not a bad price. He's coming off his best season here, maybe his best period. I'm OK with another two years of him. |

he's not smart, has a single gear/no nuance, takes too long to make decisions and move the puck, stalling into corner reverses which almost always turn into a goat rope. i am done with him. i could live with that stuff when he was skating on the danger line, a threat of a big hit...but he's lost that element of his game, and the rest is too much of a negative for me.
my only major criticisms of amac are that he often ends up on his ass in the corner and that he's not very effective in blocking 2 on 1 passes...he usually slides, takes himself out of the play and doesn't get the puck. - hammarby31
MacDonald isn't great at breakout passes and often doesnt play aggressive enough. He still isn't great, but he stepped up last year. He is good at a lot of things but not great at anything which sort of allows him to adapt to whatever partner he plays with. That will be an asset next year, as hopefully he is used as the extra piece while the rest of the defense is figured out. |

Hilarious. Keep him on board running that passive 4 man box and finish in the bottom of the league again. Rinse/repeat.

Time to push.
Cervix is dilated. - flyer_nutter
It's time to push? How can it be? I was just told that trading picks/young assets for veteran upgrades is not what Hexy would consider doing. |

Simmonds is pushing 30. Hagg is a nice player but ultimately probably slots as a 3rd pair defenseman. Middle round first, I don't think it would interest them. Trocheck is a 24 year old 30 goal, 70 point center. If you want one of their top young players you need to start with one of your top young players. - MJL
Yep, but I don't see why Fla would even want to move Trocheck at all. He's young, has good cap numbers, and is on the rise. It would be like us wanting to move Coots.
It's players like him that you build with, not move on from. |

Sure you can. As someone brought up the Pens have Crosby on one line, Malkin on another, and Kessel on the 3rd. You need 3 scoring lines if not 4 in today's NHL to be a top team. Plenty or room and ice time for 3 quality RW's on a team. - MJL
as long as the cap short and long term is in good shape, YESSSSSS. |

Hextall, for better or worse, sees it like I do.
Not saying I know I am right or that i will love who he gets vs. who i want, but i truly think a legit 3C in their prime, and a rock-solid No. 3/4 defenseman, makes this team look so different and better.

Giroux getting railroaded on sports radio today regarding his comments on fans.
He is presently the longest tenured Philly athlete. How did he think these comments were going to be taken??? |

I can see Lappy given a new position within the organization. I'd be a bit surprised to see him fired but very surprised to see him return as the PK coach. |

The Flyers are likely going to need MacDonald to do a lot of heavy lifting for the team next season unless there is some kind of drastic change made. He won't be an extra piece. |

Yeah hey, first time long time. So I'm hearing Giroux hates the fans, that's not something we need with the Eagles. Pederson's got them playing well, we don't need a bum like Giroux messing up that chemistry.

i think he handles himself well enough elsewhere overall, while agree that he sags a bit at the line. he had a good year, and he can move around the lineup as needed, while he's better suited to certain partners. |

Hextall knows better than the fans. Keeping Laperriere is a no brainer. Top 5 PK next year. Take it to the bank. |

Expect if you listen to the audio they kind of have a point this time. Just a stupid comment from G. They asked Coots and Jake the same thing and they handled it well. Giroux should know better by now. |
