Wise choice.
I remember the first time Plekanec played in the playoffs after posting over 60 points in the regular season.... he admitted himself that he "played like a little girl".
He got better afterwards. - Scabeh
He was really good once he started getting a regular shift. Needs 15 minutes to warm-up and loosen up the turtleneck; was cutting off circulation. |

Next years D (hopefully)
Rielly Doughty/some other legit #1
Dermott Zaitsev
Borgman Liljegren
Polak.
At least with this we won't mind the odd gaff from the young guys.
Hainsey is a hard NO. He was terrible last night and has been too slow all year. He's the exact same as Hunwick. - Arctic_AARDVARK

Everyone keeps saying "Chara's slowing down" he doesn't even have to move with that wingspan and telephone pole he waves around. |

Honestly, he played better for you guys than I expected him to.
Good for him. |

Not playing Dermott is mind blowing .
I guess all we have to look forward to now is seeing how they fix the blueline. - burn
It will be interesting to see what changes. A number of guys are gone, so there will be quite a few holes to fill on the forward lines. You have to think at least 2 changes on the defense.
It may be that they get younger again this off-season and take a bit of a step back next year.
Look at the veterans on Boston, Tampa, Pitt, Nashville, Winnipeg, Washington
and then look at the veterans on the Leafs, a number of whom we will lose and a couple of guys who are well past their prime and are there for mentoring and to fill out the lineup while kids deveop.
We just don't stack up right now with our veterans. The rebuild is going to take a while.
the bright side is that we actually have a bright side!

and maybe the kids who people had pencilled in making $7-$8m/yr will be forced to take less for a while longer.

Where the #Leafs end up drafting in June is still dependent on the #Penguins & #Sharks Round 2 outcome.
Pens win / Sharks win = Leafs pick 23rd
Pens win / Sharks lose = Leafs pick 24th
Pens lose / Sharks win = Leafs pick 24th
Pens lose / Sharks lose = Leafs pick 25th
pick 23, 24 or 25 |

I fully expect Matthews and Marner to take long term contracts with the Leafs and get paid considerably. Their performances and importance to the team is undeniable, despite Matthews not performing in the playoffs for some reason.
As for Nylander, he had an OK season and difficult playoffs... I feel like it's in both his and the team's interest to sign a shorter term deal since a long term deal would both be a risk for the team and the money would be less than what he could potentially get. |

We'll see, hopefully Lou can pull a rabbit from his hat and get some sort of a deal on all 3...or at least 2 of them. ( if they want to sign a couple good UFA'S ) |

Nylander gets 5.25x6.
Lou says 'lookit, Pastrnak got 6.6, Kadri got 4.5, you're in the middle of the two of them' |

Sorry but Jake is the new Captain and Auston will be traded
Ken Campbell
@THNKenCampbell
Jake Gardiner is a good kid. And huge kudos to him for facing the music and being accountable for the way he played. Auston Matthews hid in the training room after being invisible in Game 4.

Probably not...we have 1 signed for a few more years.
*he didn't play great last night...but blaming him for allowing goals from the top of the crease is............meh*
Maybe he should have had Krug's goal ( I don't think he saw it or it deflected )....be nice if the Bruins didn't win 1000 clean draws. |

I think that's a fair deal as of today.
But if I'm Nylander, and I think I can do better sooner than later, I'd pass on that and sign for a year or two to get my big payday.
But it would give him a nice security so... very possible.
5.25 for a first line player these days is a freakin bargain. |

Hainsey in the 5/6 spot is fine with me.. We can't have him on the top pairing again though.
Rielly - ?
Dermott - ?
Hainsey- Zaitsev |
